Some good old british actors in it.... 1965 British espionage film.
It has won critical acclaim and a BAFTA award for best British film. In 1999 it was included at number 59 on the BFI list of the 100 best British films of the 20th century. |

Wonderful film..I watched it again
We used to have a lot of spy films about that time...height of cold war Spy that came in from the cold...another great one |

I'm not sure why Funeral In Berlin doesn't get shown more. There are moments in that one where Caine's appallingly wooden acting actually suits the role, such as in the deadpan confrontation with the KGB Colonel Stok. And the story is a lot more plausible too - people from the relatively recent WW2 period having altered their identities and allegiances so thoroughly nobody can be sure who they really are.
The third one - The Billion Dollar Brain, about the ludicrously wealthy American right-winger who wants to make America great again by destroying its enemies - is completely different. Great fun, directed madly by Ken Russell, but virtually never gets shown on the box. |

A real period piece. I love the music.

All I remember of the film is the "Astra Fireworks" notice on the door when Palmer visits his boss and that the racing page of his paper makes mention of Reform(?). I must drag it out and watch it again. I have the VM version so I do not have to listen to Caine.

Good Spy thriller, haven't seen it for years but watched it again. Michael Caine and Richard Burton (Spy Who Came In From The Cold) both seemed much more like a real agent would be than James Bond.

The Spy Who Came In From the Cold is a good film, with Richard Burton and Claire Bloom...

One of those films that is always recorded when on the box , no matter how many times seen.

Nigel Green, who was shot by Caine, at the end of the ipcress files,
was only 41, he looked more like 61 |
