Weapons manufacturers need wars and conflicts to churn out profits and growth. The crazy world has always been like this.
All weapons manufacturers seem to need is religions with extreme hatred of others,most of Yemen is a religious civil war between sunni muslim and shia muslim factions for power.
don't get involved in any way. they will find a reason to blame you when they start beheading each other.

I can't see how the type of weaponry available to em matters that much. Would they not be killing each other anyway but more slowly?

That's how they've been improving their growth in the last few decades. But before that, it was arms race, communism, world wars. There will always be war. Its been like that since ages. Sadly people like lfc1971 can't see past their hatred for religion and think thats the only reason why wars happen.
No modern weapons and everyone would love everyone else? If there were nothing but knives they'd still be at it.
It is just a tinsy weeny bit suspicious though isn't it. One burgeoning cult seeking hegemony but, within it, tearing one another to bits. Bombs go off regularly in several of these peaceful countries.
Hindsight has shown that while they were killing each other in their own lands we should have left em to it tbf.
