This left and right shyt is bull you are taking sides based on a social Democratic country the conservatives have stolen the lefts policies and made them redundant but they have decided to exclude the poor from their plans and concentrated all their efforts to give their rich buddies a free ride.If you can't see what has happened I suggest you listen to Peter Hitchens who is one of he few who knows what is really happening

Not sure how you can equate this to the poll tax. How much do you think a policy will cost in cash terms. Take a policy costing £400, how much will this now cost.

I think exy is a bit confused or just being alarmist. I looked and insurance premium tax has gone from 10% to 12%, so a 2% rise seems to be nearer the truth.

akabula 24 Nov 16 00:18 The 'poor working class' have seen a £5k rise in the personal allowance in the past few years thanks to the Tories.
So that's an extra £1000 in their pockets over 5 years. £200 a year,I.e less than £4 a week. And that's wiped out times - how many ? , by increases elsewhere right across the board, with frozen wage increases eroding the true value of net income.
Just another con trick by the Tories. The poorest in this country are less well off now than they were at the start of this Tory government coming to power. Whilst the richest in the land have become even more wealthier.

not sure how you stop the richest folk getting richer (likewise the most intelligent will become even brighter even though mean/average intelligence peaked decades ago) - thats just simple evolution at work .
In another 2,000 years i reckon the planets wealth will be owned by 0.1 of the population .

Nothing wrong with a move to reduce direct taxation, as such.
About time there was a wholesale shake up and simplification of indirect taxes. There are so many and many of them are arbitrary, and based on increasing revenue and opportunism rather than fairness, or the concept of a bigger picture.
I am sure many people have forgotten or are too young to remember the original purpose of VAT.

lefties usually have a degree in, err, err, something soft ... e.g. sociology, reading books, watching tv (media studies) basket weaving.
And claim they are intellectuals.
Intellectuals my ar$e. Generally very opinionated and thick, from what I see.
Love to know stats on left v. moderate/centre right supporters and IQ.
I think the correlation would exceed 1 (I know, not possible, but highly probable IMO in this case)

Thrift used to be as much the preserve of the impecunious as the people who stole a living, its the saturation of credit that changed mentality and was created by capital holders making margins 'doing' nothing.
There used to be plenty of proletariat who didnt take loans or desire superfluous tat churned out by opportunists.

less people means more sold in shops.... *(sarcasm)
G1Jockey
Less *net takers* ( those on top ups and other in and out of work benefits ) means less hand outs by the treasury.
When that money goes to shops only a % goes to the treasury. You are talking consumption. When that money goes to claimants 100% comes from the treasury.
