I don't think Facts should refer to National Insurance contributions as "wasted money":

What do National Insurance payments pay for?

Your National Insurance payments go towards state benefits and services, including:

The NHS
Unemployment benefits
Sickness and disability allowances
The State Pension

Maybe Facts doesn't care about the sick, unemployed and disabled Confused

of course under the last so called unworkable system a working man on a decent wage could get a combined state pension of up to £270, now you can work as long as you like and earn as much as you like still pay the same amount of ni and be limited to a maximum of £155,of course no word of the where the extra money goes

of course if you are rich you dont need pay any tax

Report Jack Hacksaw November 22, 2016 12:30 PM GMT
There are a myriad of taxes, but NI isn't one.  As it goes towards your 35 year contribution target and therefore your pension, there are some direct-ish benefits.

There are no benefits to paying income tax other than the altruistic!

It's been known for many years now that retirement age is now 66 and in some case (mine included) it is 67. As for the NI contributions, last year I'd comfortably passed the 30 year barrier and have a quote in the drawer beside me clearly stating this. I've now ordered another under the new rules but I think, in April 2016, I hit 35 years. Didn't it used to be 44 years at one time Confused
