Related (almost) - I was listening to Electric by the Cult the other day. What a great album, it still stands up really well, doesn't imho sound dated at all.

Ready Steady Go ... that tune and the three badges each saying one of the said words and worn by my punk girlfriend Diane back in the 70s, bring back some memories.

I never met Billy but Diane had had the pleasure.

Yes agree - The Cult are very underrated.

I did the same last week with their Love album - still sounds brilliant

Billy Duffy's guitar playing is epic

he was one of the Blitz kids

Never knew he was English but was an admirer of his music; it worked for me, especially the blonde bird in 'To be a lover' video

How could you not like the bloke who sang the magnificent Kong Rocker.

Saw Generation X back in 78/79 in some dingy hole ....couple of hundred tops...Billy was a wannabe in love with himself (nothing much changed there)....Somebody threw a (plastic) pint which hit and soaked him ..."If anybody chucks anything else we're outta here" he sneered.....when another winged it way down hitting him smack on the head ...left him nowhere to go...had to carry on..(wouldn't have got paid otherwise)...

It was a great show mind...

Only seen Billy ***LIVE*** once - Donington 2010 - down the front waiting for Motorhead to come on next.  Pishing down with rain & an experience never to be forgotten!

Big fan of Generation X, btw

Saw him in Vegas earlier this year in House of Blues ..(excellent intimate venue)...It was good fun..but somehow it just ain't "real" anymore.

Generation X first album ..up there with the very best imo.

He left the University of Sussex the year before I went there. Good job too. He was doing English Literature, so we can be pretty sure he was the kind of student who complained if you used his milk from the fridge. Probably had a little Post-It sticker on his carton saying BILLY IDOL OUT OF GENERATION X.
