Nobody wants to respect elections any more? BREXIT is disputed, Trump's Presidency  is being disputed. Scotland is playing weird games with their vote? ( i'm Scottish and I voted Independence, but they are out of order).

So Rule one in elections has to be... YOU VOTE. if you don't vote you get a fine of £100.

that way the majority is the majority. If only 40 percent vote it leaves an excuse that it's not the will of the people.

if you voted void vote, you still voted.

nothing is progressing - because people can't accept a vote? its turning static.

Compulsory in some countries - isn't it.

However - A condition of that compulsion is that there is usually a Box on the Voting Form - that you can tick - Below the Candidates stating ...

'NONE of the above'.

So - Same difference as NOT voting.

Surely, such an option would have to be added were compulsion to be effected here.

Incidentally - In the State of NEVADA - you can vote for 'None of These Candidates'.

I think anyone who wants to go into politics should have to spend a week on the streets of London with no money food or shelter then they would have a good idea of it is like to be homeless if they get elected.

I also think that Ralph Mc Tell's Streets of London should be re released for Christmas, its a serious problem that is pushed under the carpet by every government in all countries.

Were the silent majority secret Hilary voters? - who knows. You can't trust the pollsters.

If you compel everyone to vote, you might get more apathetic turkeys voting for Christmas than you'd wished for.

If you take the American vote as an example, it's hard to argue that the disillusioned and disenfranchised electorate that didn't turn up, would necessarily be galvanised into voting for the status quo of the Establishment (i.e. the Democratic party) that the Clinton administration would represent.

the other thing is you should be able to look up how you voted. With computers doing the tally instead of paper votes. If you are ashamed of your vote you are spineless. I  know people are going to vote for both sides. If you are scared of repercussions, then you are already in a dictatorship and voting is pointless.
I was handed a pencil to vote with in the last two elections, I had a pen in my pocket and used that. I need someone to open the box, rub out the pencil and put a sharpie mark in the other box? it's real shoddy.

should be an option for no vote.

also agree with the last post.

your vote should be held in a data base so for instance if the eu decide to let those hold eu passports they could do it ont he basis of who you voted for.

lets called it controlled imigration Grin

why would anybody want to have forced voting ?

you can look up peoples votes in this country as all
ballot papers are numbered and recorded at point of issue

(you meaning government of course , not chit chat forum)
