I've used Norton for 10+ years and have never had a problem with online security so i am happy to continue using Norton. My subscription is now up fro renewl and Norton are trying to get me to auto-update at £59.99 but i can buy the same product from Currys/PC World for £24.99 Crazy

Anyways i know many call Norton saying it is a waste of time and they may be right as i have no idea what it does but all i know is that i have never had a problem so for £25 i'll continue to use it.

Which security product do you use/recommended?

Cheers Happy

You could buy Norton from Currys/PC World, and use that code to renew your subscription. Pretty sure you won't even have to reinstall.

Hi Steve.

Microsoft security essentials, ie Windows Defender now comes with Anti Virus included,
think this is on Windows 8 & 10, not 7

Have used this free version along with the free version of CCleaner for at least the last 3 years &
never had any problem / virus etc.

I've used Microsoft Security Essentials for many years, but I found that it was starting to miss a few viruses etc., and stuff was starting to get through. Years ago, before Security Essentials, I was using AVAST, but again, that was good at first, but started to let through some bugs.

A friend recommended Spyhunter4, which isn't cheap (about £60 per year), but I found it really good and it has not let through any nasties to date. You can see it regularly updating itself. I've had it for over a year now and it works, so I'm sticking with it.

All these freeby anti viruses were good when they were first introduced, but I've found that over the years they've become less effective and struggle to completely stop 100% of every nasty thing that's thrown at your PC.

As the old adage says, you get what you pay for!

I used to have Norton but put price up.

Now have Panda.
Free and good reviews.
So far so good ...

a couple of years back as you'll remember crags it was just a spyware tool,

but now with the added virus & real time protection i find it more than good enough.
and i like the price! 0 Grin

I have been running Commodo Internet Security for over 10 years. The free version that is.

used a few

chose bullgard in the end...mainly because of price and some of the extras came with it.

also have trendmicro in the router which blocks and sends you an email when you have entered a domain which is on the insecure list.

easily done if you use things like kodi and internet streams.

will add the trendmicro option came free with the router....

If you are a Barclays or HSBC customer, you can get Kaspersky or Mcafee free.

Kaspesrky has come top of the PC Pro Magazine AV software test for the last couple of years.

Windows Defender (at least on Windows 10) is free, reliable and does not consume vast amounts of processor time. The best of the paid applications is Malwarebytes. Make sure you do not have conflicting settings for multiple security applications otherwise they will battle each other and bring your response times to a crawl.

I use F-Secure; it has a good to excellent rating and I don't mind paying a little extra at £7.50 per quarter. It has been as sound as a pound Plain
