I don't have a degree but I'm a qualified Accountant - with letters after my name. Mind you, everybody under 40 has a degree - sandwich making etc etc. And they say the young are dissatisfied with Brexit, Trump. And they blame older folk like me. Well. in my experience, young people are just thick. Not all, obviously. Thank god for well educated older folk, I say |

just like two of my mates - one an engineer - with umpteen qualifications but no degree and another who specialises in electronics amongst many other things so that is three of you excluded you will probably be too practical to either know anything about politics and voting you would start by trying to solve problems which just would not cut the mustard as we say down here in westmonster |

I haven't watched the news since the vote so don't know who is saying what.
This is one of the funniest I have seen. AN EMAIL has just pinged into my mailbox. There are none of the usual polite expressions of good will and hopes that all is well. Instead it is a hurting, solid paragraph from a friend on America’s East Coast who also has a house nearby. In essence it’s a cry of despair at what has happened. I check the clock – it is 9.31pm in France and many hours since I watched President Elect Trump play at humility. A Democrat she had woken to the sickening knowledge that all had changed. In France, in a sitting room under beams looted from a fine house following the French revolution, I had watched through most of the night as a prancing, lying, misogynistic, bully-boy reality star became the most powerful man in the world. My friend is due to return to her house here in a couple of months for several weeks. "We’ll see where we stand then," she writes. "Maybe we’ll stay." My reply to her is equally bleak. "I’d love you to stay here but I fear there will be nowhere safe soon." It goes on but the tears stopped me reading. Some Scottish ex pat btw. |

This is not the way to do it.
What you need is an honest politician who talks like most working people, salaried or weekly waged. With policies for the vast majority. Someone who is from a relatively common stock Not a professional politico but the current crop of professional careerists simply do not get it and will cling on to there careers and the system that got them there it really is that simple. |

the fact I have written 'political classes' shows there is a huge problem - that is how they see themselves and hence the arrogant talking down to the great unwashed who vote the 'wrong way'
they simply think they are above people who haven't got a degree in economics yet most people who work for a living(or not come to that) could give them some harsh lessons in economics when living on say 24 grand a year (or even a great deal less)etc |
