1TP, Shirley williams was on radio earlier giving it the old "they didn't know what they were voting for" routine. Presenter was forced to ask her through gritted teeth if that wasn't being patronising, "yes it is" she shot back with undisguised fury. Wonderful stuff Laugh

Oh dear , the media , politicians and celebs are upset again  , not five minutes after Joe Public votes for Brexit ,the Americans then make up their own mind and make Mr Trump the President.

If females , immigrants and minorities were as outraged as we were constantly told , how come Mrs Clinton has been wiped out ?

There couldn't possibly be any sexism in these communities in their voting pattern ?

Lots of people have decided ,just like Brexit , it is time to try something different. It might go badly wrong , but they are clearly sick to their teeth of the same politicians ignoring them .

More women vote in America than men.

Yet the man won.

Doesn't come across in our media but Clinton is widely despised in America.

I think it is all about protest votes.

Obama was the protest vote for two elections.
Brexit was a protest vote.
Trump (or just about anyone - against Clinton) was a protest vote.

In each case protesting against the political establishment.

I can't see how gender could matter much really. Any woman who votes simply on that basis alone must be a bit vacuous. I wouldn't vote for a man just because of brotherhood.

Think this result is mostly about the white working class feeling they don't have a future or a voice and saying **** you to the establishment.

The thought of the white working class voting for a right wing Tory government in this country is quite a challenge.

fk me  - on sky the ain't arf  hammering thing this great unwashed vote for - they are working on the demographic of this election but what it really is is the rejection of the idiots who have been in charge (not sure it will change much either but...)
from the guardian

just came across this , from The Baffler (editors Thomas Frank and Susan Faludi)
"This is also a story of dumbfounding centrist liberal condescension, born of the placid assurance that the difference-trimming forces of Clintonism are simply on the right side of history and that the unswayable logic of demographic diversity will ratify what all good enthusiasts of postideological meritocracy already know: that the nation’s best, brightest, most connected administrators of state power are destined always to carry the day"
It seems to me that the self-serving, self-absorbed, self-satisfied "centrist liberals" in this country too deserve a come-uppance.
The "lesser of two evils" rationalisation has wrought havoc with sensible politics in this country- well, dontcha know, the centre-right (!!!) Tories are pretty bad, the centre-centre LibDems are dead ducks, bit the horrible, wicked, Corbynistas have spoilt our game since they are unkind the rather nice Blairites.
We may be doomed to not-really-centre Right rulers for eternity.
They will, no doubt, subscribe to TTIP, CETA etc etc and , above all, perhaps, support the world-wide mission of NATO to bring civilisation and- as an extra- prosperity to all. The chavs simply are deplorable.

It is amazing though how little in depth analysis there is of Clinton's policies/past/husband there is.

Our media's line is 'Clinton's awesome cos she's not Trump'.

I get sick of the liberal elite sneering at the "uneducated" accusing them of not knowing what they are doing.

Maybe they think they shouldnt have a vote, or if you have a degree you get two votes.

The attitude of the elite is part of the problem, there is absolutely nothing wrong with not having a degree, are they trying to vilify the less educated. I`ve met graduates who are utterly clueless, and "ordinary ppl" who never got past O levels and who quite frankly are almost geniuses (genii ?).

We're witnessing a revolution (long overdue).

Pounf - bullseye from you.

The 'educated' need bricklayers etc to build their friggin' houses and I bet 98% of them don't have degrees.

The establishment's level of denial/excuses is bordering on the insane.
