No established country and no economy can cope with mass immigration. It is pointless to compare America in the 19th and 20c to today. It is simply not possible in the modern world, America cannot do it, Britain cannot, the great European countries cannot.and what evidence do you have for this?germany and to a lesser degree us avoided the slump many of the eu countries encountered post subprime because our populations stemmed growth.the same growth which boomed the economy before hand.
Simple. Mass immigration and free public services are incompatible. Scarce resources means more net-takers and fewer net-contributors = huge budget deficit.
