Bought a chestnut yearling back in December 1998 out of a muddy field near Wincanton. Driving home in the lorry, glanced at its passport and noticed it said "bay". Oh bugger. Turned round, unloaded it back at the farm, and the girl there said nothing. Just went and got a brush, got to work on the mane and tail and, hey presto, it turned out indeed to be bright bay. My face turned out to be a bright red.
At least the filly won a few races, so BAY ... for me. |

I recall patting a very large standardbred that was very black. An entire. Very nice horse. We were playing that thing where the horse tries to grab you with his lips. Just mucking about. Suddenly somehow my little finger was in his mouth and between his very large teeth. I looked up at him and he looked down at me. He seemed just as surprised as I was. I'm sure we both shared the same thought - if he bites down on my little finger now I won't have a little finger anymore. He must have dismissed the thought because he released the digit and continued on with his lip biting game. I was very relieved.

There's no way that's the horse in the photo's natural colour. Bit of "Just For Stallions" going on there.

White , or will I be reported for this racist preference?
|
|
By:
Being a guardian reader I have to bring you up short on the use of coloured and have reported said racist connotation.
As for which pigment (apologies to muslims) I always go for the one that wins. Hope this helps. |

There's a clip of Anthony Penfold explaining how he bought Generous much cheaper than he expected and he puts it down to the colour of Generous, who was very flashy with the bright flaxen mane and tail...deffo colour prejudice there, in the racing world...
