Well done Andy Murray. What a good decision to dump Muggresmo.
By:
Well deserved. His fight back from 6-1 down in the tie break yesterday showed his bottle.
By:
could hang on to it for at least 6 months if he can get the better of djokovic in london
By:
He has a good chance of extending the amount of points he can lead by if he does well in Indian Wells and Miami next year as he dropped a lot of points this year by only making the third round in those 1000 events whereas Novak won both of them. Alot of points to make up in London as well only one one match last year in the RR mathces (200 points), Novak has to defend it (1500 points)
But the hardest thing to do will be to defend all the points he's won this year, winning a slam again and consistently getting to the big finals. |

number 1 ranking will be on the line should they meet in the final in london. long time since that's happened i would have thought |

By:
do you mean the open lfc?
![]() |
By:
i wont call you a mug lfc as i find your work so entertaining
![]() |
By:
they will point out that Sandy Lyle won the British open and the masters and started the great success for British golfers
![]() |
By:
Murrys good but its the grand slams that he will be remembered for, 3 is brilliant in itself.
By:
thanks jollyswagman.
By:
i'm getting old i can vaguely remember sandy's bunker shot at the masters (sweaty armpits). was that 30 years ago?
By:
I always call it the British open, its rude to call it the Open?
By:
that was the first time I watched the Masters, it was wonderful when Lyle won that, after Lyle came the deluge.
other British players suddenly thought they might win also. |
By:
pedantry really isnt it. the yanks always call it the british open and british golfing commentators always call it the open. i suppose its an attempt to make it sound like the pre-eminent tournament. i'm guessing most pros see the us masters as the number one major.
back on topic, its great to see andy doing so well. i hope he can win a few more majors. |
By:
Murry knows himself, despite what he said in the interview. but to be no. 1 is nice.
By:
thinking about it I think Murrys brother became no 1 in the world this year, doubles? and Murry may not have wanted to play down the accomplishment because of that.

Nah The English don't care about a game of ping-pong Aye that's right you prefer cricket. We have a similar game but it's called rounders and played by the wimmin. |
By:
Lots of jealousy on here cos Andy was born on the wrong side of the border.

By:
Great credit to Andy he really has matured well,Seems a decent lad (cast off the dour persona)and of course top sportsman.

By:

An truly great achievement
The best returner in the game. The most consistent player in the game. The toughest player in the game. The most tactically aware player in the game. The best player on planet Earth at the moment. Hard to knock the guy. |
