Pre-emptive most certainly is the correct English spelling, Dave. I had fallen into the perfunctory habit of accepting the predictive text option on my cellphone. When I first endeavoured to type the hyphenated version it altered it to pre-motive for some bizarre reason so I just let it have its own way.
I'd be the first to argue that language is important, though, and I abhor text speak so don't mind in the slightest such things being pointed out, sir. John Kerry would have been my choice for the democratic nomination, he seems a decent and educated fellow. For the republicans I'd probably choose Paul Ryan. |

Almost any two would be preferable to the current candidate, of course, but given we're stuck with them there's no doubt whatsoever in my mind that Trump is by far the lesser of two evils.

Sky News earlier epitomised the mainstream media's biased coverage of the presidential election.
The presenter introduced the segment with something like: "To debate the recent FBI announcement we are joined by Jane Doe of the Washington Post and John Smith from the London School of Economics. If we go to you first, Jane, what is your take on the latest events?" Whereupon Jane launched into a scathing attack on Trump, Comey, the Russians and just about everybody else except Clinton. "Why aren't we calling for Trump to be prosecuted for being complicit in hacking" was one rant I recall. And so on to John for the opposing view one would imagine, eh? Alas, no, he was of exactly the same opinion just slightly less hysterical. A debate it was not. |

The Tories in this country hand out tax cuts despite our deficit, it sees them into power.
Right wing governments everywhere claim this, reducing taxes for the better off helps business. He is going to uses tax to try and get businesses that have left America back. He has promised to rebuild the inner cities. What is Clinton offering the middle classes...naff all! If the poor want a job in America then immigration must be controlled, why this country voted for Brexit. We don't need leaders who are nice anxious, we need leaders who can do the job! |

Clinton wants Syrian refugees in America. The Americans might want to see what has happened in Europe!

Two things strike me above all else in this deplorable election, both of which reflect American politics in a shameful light.
One: An incoming president granting an outgoing one a pre-emptive pardon is an egregious enough abuse of power in itself, but the prospect of it happening the other way around is mind-boggling and utterly beyond the pale. Who the hell do these people think they are to hold the law of the land (which gets applied forcibly to everyone else) in such complete disregard? Two: Somehow the American public have been given a choice between a democrat candidate who would lose heavily to virtually any other republican nominee or a republican who would certainly lose heavily to any other democrat. Both are dreadful and it's the ordinary folks who will ultimately suffer for it. |

Trump into 4.1 now. I reckon he will shorten quite a bit in the next few days as the new leaks come in - unless Hillary has the racist tape of Trump that is being rumoured.

That will just get him more votes..

Pokermonster I think we should wait until there is pre-emptive pardon before complaining about it

you posted "If the poor want a job in America then immigration must be controlled, why this country voted for Brexit." I want immigration to be controlled but I voted for the UK leaving the EU solely because it is corrupt and every year its auditors say that it has poor contols over its spending. We should not be part of such an organisation - I don't want to be. It is fallacious to assume that all people who voted for Brexit (17+ m.) are racist, thick, northerners etc. I'm not HTH |

It is fallacious to assume that all people who voted for Brexit (17+ m.) are racist, thick, northerners etc. I am not a racist think northerner either ...if you think that is you think people are? I voted for Brexit to control immigration, to give our own people a chance of work, particularly the poor and the young. You also voted for Brexit because you think they waste money and are corrupt. Fine by me. I advise people of the United States to vote Trump, one reason being control of immigration for the reason I have just said, there are other reasons as well. I do not know why you are digging me out over this??????????????????????? HTH |
