Not been to my local chippy for ages as was pretty underwhelming modern day chain type affair with spotty gimps serving average grub. But just got a leaflet through the door and think it's an expensive working mans treat:

Chips £1.90 (large £2.50)
Cod £4.85 (large £5.80)
Haddock £6.20
Pukka Pie £2.70
Curry/gravy/peas £1.30

So my favourite of fish/chips/peas/curry sauce costs £10! Surprised

make yer own? i like charlotte variety potatoes, hard to get golden wonder potatoes. they fry real quick.

i buy a roll n chips for £1.50 and give the roll to the birds. A bag costs £1.90 in same shop. my other chippy sells a bag for £1.60.
fritters are reasonable at £1.10 for three fritters. 40p each.

Another chippy about a mile away does a mid day special of a fish supper and a can for £3. aimed at kids from the local school. Love these people.

When you pay around £7 for fish and chips you expect a half decent meal !  I like my Fish and Chips on a Friday or a w/e, but have to say the standard at a lot of Chip shops does vary a lot.

Big difference between Cod and Chips from the proper menu and the "Fish and Chips" type special advertised in the window....ask them what sort of fish it is? - Thats why its £2.50 !

1 x "Cod Chips and Peas" enough to feed 2 round here.

Any chippy that serves peas or curry in the small 1/2 size plastic pots (for around a quid) deserves to lose all its business.

Top restaurant and take away in Trip Advisor and only sell FRESH fish nothing frozen,
Cod & Chips x2 is !7.40 but you get a loyalty card where every 5th one is free.

Queuing out the door every weekend.

"Olley*s" by Brockwell Park in Herne Hill, South East London has won untold amounts of awards, I don't do fish and chips though, I don't like fried food. Probably about a tenner for haddock and chips or thereabouts.
