When it comes down to the crunch your vote is meaningless.
Democracy illusion.

the boaty macboatface name will live on as the ship will have
a mini submarine which is being named boaty macboatface

brexit may be a similarly modified version of what was voted for

but the brexiteers seem happy to let one woman decide
Report ebulGery October 17, 2016 7:41 PM BST
Well it has already been decided by a democratic referendum

Theresa May as the new Prime Minister, is morally obliged to carry out the wishes of the people, albeit reluctantly

voted to exit the EU - and that's all -  no reason why we can't still have free movement

ConfusedConfusedConfusedConfused

If we do that A_T there was not much point in us leaving....we may as well stay in,
otherwise we would still have immigration and no access to EU market..we would be worse not better off

The options are
out
We control our own immigration from EU
No Access to EU market

stay in
We cannot control immigration from the EU, against the rules
We have access to EU market

People voted out.
Report ebulGery October 17, 2016 7:57 PM BST
Talk of negotiation with EU is complete flummery...the only thing to decide is when we leave.
Report zorrostrikes October 17, 2016 8:02 PM BST
we've already had two slips of the pound - it's death by a thousand cuts. Just declare the article ? forgotten the flippin number..
Get it done before the world ends.

I agree zorro

They are trying to find an excuse to back out by the back door imo..
Report ebulGery October 17, 2016 8:11 PM BST
There was talk last week of us continuing to pay into EU in return for limited access to the EU Market.

But I do not think Merkel will bite. She has dug her heels in.

We either leave or we stay, nothing else.

The pound was going to weaken whether we voted In, Out or Shake-It-All-About. The reason is the quantitive easing that's being going on for eight years.

The Remaniacs have seized on a guaranteed economic hiccup as some kind of proof that they were right. They have forgotten that Britain has voted for independence. Freedom cannot be bought with money, it's priceless.

If Germany still had the mark, it would have been on the floor. The euro, which is really just a beard for the mark, is being propped up by the misery of the poorer countries in the EU. It's only a matter of time before these countries rebel.

Spot on.
A_T knows what the question on the ballot said.

the brexiteers will be sqealing for a new vote if may lets them down
by letting a few migrants in for access to market

Yes all these  helpless menchildren that are arriving will any of the remainers on here be putting up these poor individuals ?
Report Jack Hacksaw October 18, 2016 3:24 PM BST
I just wonder whether, if we had voted to remain, and the pound had fallen, whether anyone would bother to link the two??????
Report Breedingmad October 18, 2016 3:59 PM BST
Wreckuk will be the new name of Brexit
Report donny osmond October 18, 2016 6:12 PM BST
pound was over valued but brexit has surely speeded up the correction

we would be even more over valued as per £ rising on exit polls suggesting
remain had won, and exporters would be struggling

you cant keep em all happy
Report Shab October 18, 2016 7:31 PM BST
After the ERM fiasco in 1992, the pound plummeted. There was a couple of years of dodgy economy figures, then 10 years of stratospheric growth. Are they linked? Who knows - there was also lots of irresponsible lending, which also contributed.

A weak currency is not always a bad thing. Inflation is coming next year, but the BoE has been given a target of 2% which it has missed for a decade. Now the Remoaners are saying any rise in inflation is a disaster. So are the BoE wrong?
Report Gallivanter October 18, 2016 7:56 PM BST
The pound will fluctuate a little until we are out of the EU and have stayed out for six months. The ensuing crash of the euro will boost both the pound and the dollar but the pound more so.

It's all good if we can keep out of the next European war and don't rattle Russia's cage too much.

i think outside events will put Brexit on the back burner for good.

it'll just be forgotten.
Report DIE LINKE October 19, 2016 10:09 AM BST
Will anyone give me a price on Brexit still meaning 1) a large wedge being paid by the UK Gov to the EU and 2) continued albeit marginally reduced EU migration?
