I think you'll find quite a few of the 48% voted out of fear, despite being against uncontrolled immigration.

Give it up Breedingmad

You are grouping EPL footballers with pallet stackers at a cake factory...Laugh

A visa system will discourage the pallet stackers who are either beneficiaries or contributors depending on their top ups or access to child benefit, childcare, schooling, healthcare etc...

There is no single "correct" estimate of this impact. Results of existing studies all depend on the methodology and the assumptions researchers must make
(for example, about whether to include the costs of educating UK-born children of migrants).

If there is no correct answer you voted on a whim because you don't like immigrants

Getting your car washed has become much cheaper.

And I foolishly voted OUT, without fully appreciating the economic benefits of mass immigration.

Non-EU nations require access via a visa system. Are you offended by that?

No I'm not. Lets go over another thing the Brexiters said about what the E.U had done to Greece and the high unemployment in Spain
also the fault of the E.U. A few months later nobody over here can afford to holiday in those countries after the fall of the pound
thus creating higher unemployment both here and in the rest of he E.U.

Name one positive thing that has happened since Brexit that justifies why you voted out?

The economy is booming Breeding mad.
Foreign investment is flooding in.
Exports are soaring, as is tourism.
The FTSE 100/250 have exceeded all projections

Greece and Spain are victims of a currency that they can not devalue.
Sterling is a floating currency.

When you say nobody can afford to holiday in Greece or Spain, is that you just being hysterical?

Never mind all that zen, get with the plan. All those who voted out are racists, all those who voted in did so because they want unlimited immigration.

This typifies the Remainiacs.

One minute Leave voters are ALL racists.
The next minute terms and conditions should not revolve around ending free-movement because there is no guarantee that was the number one reason why people voted Leave.Laugh

They come from the school of Cleggy.

I fear they know their utopia will never come about, but like Merkel they will take a long time to admit it, meanwhile the rhetoric will continue until they can think of a way to climb down.
By:

Hilary Benn will probably be voted in to Chair the committee for scrutinising the governments 'final deal' for leaving the EU.

How this will be played out will be interesting, because he will claim that Leave voters are more sophisticated than originally believed. That regaining absolute sovereignty was the main reason, the want of a direct democracy was at the forefront of a vote to Leave the EU.

What a u-turn from the 'Leave voters are bigoted, xenophobes or out and out racists.'
What a dishonest bunch these Remainers are.

You know

Back in the day it was "uuuuuuuuuuuuuuugh, those dudes from the tribe 10 metres from here are horrible. They're savages, will not integrate and are stupid" (maybe not quite in those words)
Then that same thing applied to people from a neighbouring town, state, country, continent, you name it.
The Irish catholics in the USA faced heavy discrimination (actually it was the same with catholics and protestants over here in Europe), were considered drunk and violent thugs that will never ever integrate in the slightest and their women were slutty birth machines that were threatening the protestant majority. The men are still considered drunk thugs, but people don't really hate preach against the irish or catholics in general anymore.

People captured and enslaved other races and ethnicities, sometimes put them into zoo and wandering circus cages.

Then we claimed the money jews are trying to take over the world.

We've come through all that to see that the people from neighbouring tribes aren't actually all that bad and other races maybe should not be put into cages.

It's sad to see that humanity keeps doing the same thing over and over again, but slowly we expand our tolerance and are getting along a bit more each day. Given that we have expanded and learned about each other so much already, is it really that much of a unreachable utopia that one day we'll learn to all..you know....just hug? Why just be negative, give up and say "this will never come true" instead of working towards a good future for the planet? Will not be our generation, might not be our sons', but one day....wouldn't that be neat?

Really? I think multiculturalism in this country was doing fine for fifty years until they decided to ramp the speed up and change the country beyond recognition within a generation. Too much too soon, and as a result they have managed to divide the country absolutely.

Ok, I obviously can't speak about the UK being changed beyond recognition.

In Germany the birds still sing (though tbf especially smaller birds have started living more in towns due to pesticides destroying the food situation outside of human settlements), you can still eat big fat sausages just about everywhere, bread is dark-ish, beer is cool and allowed from 16 onwards, sandals and socks are fashionable, David Hasselhoff concerts are filling giant arenas, and without fail there's at least one really grumpy old allotment holder in every area that makes life hell for all the other hobby gardeners.

Basically, life is more or less the same as always over here.

Get away from silly European Laws ..
The laws weren't stupid and they saved our Parliament time and money
and made the lives of our MP' far simpler.

We made the lives of our fisherman difficult and farmers will lose their subsidies.

Farage was challenging EU bureaucracy while you was in nappies breeding man.
Since 2003 and the Maastricht Treaty (google it)
11 years before the 2004 expansion of the EU, resulting in the free-movement issues.

I don't blame you for not knowing all this because you have been conditioned by the BBC.

In Germany, areas with low immigration levels seem especially susceptible to a bit of xenophobia (I'd assume that's what the press does to you if you don't have a chance to actually meet immigrants).

You've probably heard about Pegida (if you haven't, an anti-islamisation protest group). Started and at its strongest in a state that had a whopping 0.1% muslims at the time. Will be more now, but still not that much. NPD (Germany's openly racist party) has its stronghold in Mecklenburg-Vorpommern, and there at its strongest around Anklam. Mecklenburg-Vorpommern is over 96% white German. Don't know the number for Anklam, but even whiter than those 96%.

Would it be outlandish of me to think that similar dynamics could be true about other countries like the UK?

Rich French landowners will take a hit without the UK funding.
Rich UK landowners (Queen included) can take a hit.
UK farmers have a real opportunity for progression and a system that works for them.
We will be buying British, it will bare it's own fruits.

I imagine that if the UK voted to Remain in the EU then those far right dynamics would have swelled edy.
If Parliament interferes enough and TMay wilts on ending free-movement then those dynamics will raise it's head rather more.

See, you need balance. Obviously in Germany you have no balance, you are unaware of the tipping point. Hence why German populist parties are on the surge.

Will you blame the UK rules if Lunatic Religious Types from London attack Glasgow?

I'm sure you're glad that there are no fences and walls between England and Scotland. I am glad that we don't have a wall between Germany and France. Lunatic Religious Types with murderous intent would find a way to get across borders either way. Do you know how much "green border" there is unless we build walls around our entire countries?

The GDR had one of the most tightly secured borders of all time. Walls, fences, armed guards, ordered to kill anyone who crosses without permission, mines and self-shooting devices. Cars literally being taken apart. Tighter controlled than anything imaginable today. Yet people were able to flee.

No, that's not what I said. I said that the overall immigrant picture of people from low immigration areas is going to be more heavily influenced by only the press, which heavily favours reporting only the bad things, creating a skewed picture, more fear and anxiety, than people from higher immigration areas whose picture will be created from more of a mix of both the press and personal experience.

Of course you can be against immigration for a whole host of reasons no matter where you live or if you meet immigrants every day.
