Wow how uncanny is that, only said yesterday I cant believe Hilda has not been in Corrie for 29 years.

Time is relative.  I've been moving quickly.

Hilda is old school, must be very near to the beginning of CS?

they were a great double act her and Stan not forgetting Eddie either.

Always came across as a very pleasant person and who played the character Hilda Ogden very well imo. I always respected the way she refused the offers to reprise the role.

Just to add something which I wish I had included in my previous post: the scene after Stan dies where she sews the button back on his shirt/cardigan has to be one of the saddest scenes in soap opera history - gets me every time!

Not often Crags but when it comes up is very sad.

Sometimes there are programmes where they have top 50/100 clips on TV and that scene will regularly appear. It was really well acted and sums up how sad it is to lose someone you love.

Cheers, I liked Stan and Hilda they were great soap characters.. and their lodger Eddie, as someone pointed out above.

Made me feel sad reading JA had died this morning. Yes, I know I never met her and, yes, I know she was 90 years old but I really did like the character and it is a reminder why imo Coronation Street is the best soap opera - although has slightly gone off the boil recently - imo the last great characters were Jack, Vera and Emily Bishop. Also Mavis, Betty Driver and Jack Walker - these were really good characters.

Heartbeat is one of the few shows I've watched. 'Eddie' was great in that.

Unfortunately her funeral has been delayed by a week. The organisers are having trouble getting all their ducks in a row.

Hilda was a fantastic character,brilliantly played, and Jean seemed like a lovely, quiet modest lady.

RIP.
