I use facilities for the disabled all the time. They're always vacant.
Same with disabled spaces on supermarket car park. I can't remember ever seeing anyone getting out of a car parked in one of these bays who looks disabled. Although you do see the odd one or two in the stores.
The first row from one end of my local Tesco to the other is for disabled parking. They must figure one in ten are disabled. The second row is for driver and child, which is just as ridiculous.

Disabled toilets are generally cleaner than those in the gents. Nothing wrong with using them as long as you give a disabled person priority. That's never happened to me yet. Would never park in a disabled spot but mother and child places are fair game. Kids have legs, they should be encouraged to use them more.

Callisto-moon, who do you consider is more deserving of a wider bay close to the store, my 70 year old wife who needs assistance getting out of the car (and no she's not overweight and doesn't yet qualify for a blue badge) or a 30 year old mother with school age children? Who do you think is a greater burden on the state, a relatively fit pensioner (me) who still pays tax on his retirement income or a young woman who is knocking out kids?
I understand that women with babes in arms need some consideration but the number of them you see in a supermarket bears little correlation with the large number of mother and child spaces. These spaces are there as a marketing ploy to encourage women with families to visit them rather than the competition since they spend the most on the weekly shop. I respect disabled bays as they fulfil a real need and I think everyone should.
