Thanks Zorro. I always wondered how you could reconcile belief in one story book and reject a very similar one that over a billion people think is the last testament.
The Mohammedans say that their man is the last prophet, that their book is the word of the one and only god and that your Geezer is just an early prophet. Both can't be right but logically both could be wrong.

The Parting Of The Red Sea, which led to the legend of Moses, (doubtful Moses ever actually existed) was probably caused by the massive volcanic eruption on Santorini.

Moses is hugely prominent in Jewish, Christian and Islamic religion.  So three and a half thousand years of total BS which has totally dominated the human race during most of that period, is probably down to a massive volcanic eruption.

Really though, how many times do you need the same question answered? ITs not going to be a different answer than the previous 3 million times you've asked this question. Mohammed's prophesies are based on a private dream, something that no one except him saw. Jesus' life was played out in public, in front of eye witnesses whose testaments are still sitting in the Jerusalem museum as hard evidence which you can go and visit today. But you choose not to do that, you choose to point blank ignore the evidence and continue to make it up as you go along, driven by confirmation bias. I wasn't always a Christian, once I thought in exactly the way you do, but I looked at the evidence and I saw the truth. Maybe when you develop the humility to do this, you won't be left wondering about these things any more!

I read Zorro's answer and was confirming that to him. I wasn't asking for a repeat.
Whether Jesus actually existed is another story.

I have trusted tools i keep for making stretchers, take my hammer and place it beside a bright shiny new pound shop hammer. Or even a hammer from a cash and carry. only one of them is reliable. the one that is tried and tested. The others will be from China and India in all probability. looking at my 'old hammer' it's got gouges, paint, it's worn away in places and looks like trash. Nobody would value it if I took it and sold it at a carboot. I might get a pound. The cash and carry hammer will easily get more than a pound. the pound shop hammer will get the pound too.

what hammer is the 'best' and 'reliable' hammer.

what book is the original book, written in Hebrew and Greek.covering 5,775 years. (altered by Muhammad, to suit his evil deeds)

the truth... what is truth. Pilate looked away... not wanting an answer.
the question is why you don't want a free gift. For many the answer is they don't value free gifts. Come a flood it's nice to have a boat. Come a fire it's nice to have a hose. come your time it's nice to have a saviour. For yourself and your family.

You have eye witness accounts of UFOs, Aliens, Witchcraft, Yetis, Loch Ness and equal absurdities.  It's not hard evidence!

counterfeits usually arise when there is something to counterfeit.

for six hundred years Christians said Jesus died on the cross. Muhammad said he didn't die on the cross.

who's telling the truth? A lie usually comes from someone that cannot tell the truth.
Muhammad got all his lies from an Angel calling himself Gabriel, another lie.
Satan the father of all lies, the greatest Angel.

No one cares in modern absurdities.  The older they are the easier it is to stick your head in the sand.

It's a bit dishonest to claim that there is evidence, you can chose to believe but there is no evidence. Look at it this way many religious people believe in miracles, very good but no one had ever seen one as far as we know.

flimsy claims there is evidence, but fails to tell us what that is , and then gets angry when he is questioned, hmmm

According to many, Leicester winning the PL last year was a miracle, and Ranieri is a Legend and a Saint.  It's all about perception.  The perception of Jesus's miracles had it's roots laid in the story of Moses, which I think probably had it's roots in the aftermath of a volcanic reaction.  It's that long ago for it to be only a theory, but it's a very plausible one, unlike the ancient stories of divine intervention.  You only have to see videos of magicians, or listen to stories of con artists to see how easy it is to completely fool people.

I suppose it is possible that a miracle could happen, but I would like to look at it, I am sceptical that way.

Perhaps those who believe in such things have the evidence, maybe it's on YouTube and we can see for ourselves?
By:

Wouldn't count on it lfc, a miracle is a violation of the laws of nature, just doesn't happen other than as a figment of someone's imagination.

Interesting how some Christians (and not just Christians) become arrogant and/or abusive when their beliefs are questioned. You could be forgiven for thinking they don't have a leg to stand on.

From Wikipedia on the existence of Jesus.

"R. Joseph Hoffmann at the Jesus Project noted that Jesus is getting more vague, ambiguous, and uncertain the more scholars study him, rather than the other way around .... notable experts who have published peer reviewed books on the historicity of Jesus using the most current scholarship available on the subject include: Dale Allison, Bart Ehrman, Amy-Jill Levine and Geza Vermes, all of whom believe that the historical Jesus existed and oppose the Christ Myth Theory, but who tend to see the historical Jesus as a Jewish preacher who never claimed to be God nor had any intention to found a religion. However some authors disagree with this consensus"

The existence of Muhammed is highly dubious.  Hard to find a grain of truth in any of it Shocked.

Religion is easily described by Karl Marx imo....

"Religion is the opium of the masses".

Couldn't be more simple if you think about it.

For every point made against the religiously minded (it's sort of morphed into Christians and our old friends the Muslims, well, extremist Muslims, who are always good for making points in these kind of threads) you can make exactly the same point for atheists.

Steven Fry, Richard Dawkins even the OP here can get hostile, patronising and aggressive regarding Christianity / those of faith. South Korea have done away with faith and are hardly a poster state for peace and harmony and intellectual progressivism (unless we extend a belief in a religious deity to belief in a supreme corporeal being accounting for their collective madness).

As usual, 'religion' or 'those of religious persuasion' has morphed into 'religious extremists' who can be put up to bolster any argument you like regarding intolerance and hypocrisy, when of course these headline grabbers are an absolute minority worldwide.

Charles Darwin was training to be a minister ? before he went on his
Voyages - His encounters with the bawdy sailors of the beagle he recounts
in his autobiography gave him some doubts.

'I have never been an atheist in the sense of denying the existence of a God'
from the letters of Charles Darwin.

'I for one must remain an agnostic'  from autobiography of Charles Darwin.
an agnostic being someone that is undecided.

poor lass of 16 was one of those killed in the mall shooting in the usa - she had recovered from cancer earlier in life - if there is a god he must be a bit sick to allow such things to happen particularly as those who believe in his existence talk of his omnipotence

you are seeing this life as the only life

eternity implies more than three score and ten.

every single person's body will die - is it sick to then
bestow immortality on every one of God's creations.
the Spirit survives death, you idiots.
