Confound the emission tests, inadequate though they are
Keep the cars on the road even though illegal.
Zero to sixty time is king.

Tesla are making a massive mistake trying to sell their cars on performance over economy
If the diesel tests were not compromised by the goverments and car manufacturers they would be gone from the road a long time ago.
The Entire diesel debate is still to be done ,we are where we are due to taxation ,the entire reason pollution from diesels has been allowed to be covered up is due to taxation ,its a farce .

Dont forget there is/was also a natural gas engined car(Japanese ) ,it came with a compressor ,in the US they quickly moved to over regulate the tech out of debate ,you had to have the vehicle charging in a seperate garage ,so far from a house .
Even though the vehicle was designed to be charged at home ,the charging did take a a long time but due to much cheapness ,not to mention a head ache for gov tax departments over home delivered (piped) natural gas ...they had to stop it forthwith .
Also there is hydrogen and LPG ....but they aint catching on (hmm i wonder why) ....electric looks doomed imo ,facing an uphill struggle and this is why Tesla are taking on internal combustion technology on performance ,trying to get their foot in the door but it will cost them as the battery power and battery life will be absolutely destroyed using these vehicles for performance .
Already the French have seen the probs and are offering a battery on lease as apposed to buying (warranty must have been killing them) ,some of the battery's can cost between 6-10 k some even more and if every Tesla owner drives like an F1 driver ....that alone will finnish them imo .
They are gunna need a bigger battery plant imo Laugh (although lets wait and see if the first one gets built )

Of course they need the orders and need the numbers but performance over economy is a mistake ,they are trying to overturm the mary poppins type stereo type of electric vehicles but at what cost ?  and at what cost to the future of electric vehicles?

I have a vision of electric vehicles being charged of solar and wind arrays ,driving an electric vehicle into a parking spot at the mall(lol) and it being charged for free but not even having to physically connect anything ,either under vehicles charge elcrodes automatically being deployed and connecting to charging points ,could be in bumpers and you lock in like a train or be deployed from underneath ,matters not and this will be the future ,cheap basic vehicles that can be charged for free at home .
Of course roadtax will be 10k and parking charges (a stop charge ) will be £30+ ..ect ect ect but RIP the  oil industry  Wink
Of course some major tech is due shortly imo and this new tech could put and end to road travel altogether but thats another freddie .

Meantime dont let anyone pretend diesel is anything other than a very heavy pollutant to man and beast and all because of a corrupt taxation system .

as they say in the EU  Vorsprung durch Technik  Excited

roughly translates to "away and throw **** at yersel ya big lying corupt trumpet heed  "
