I'm suicidal etc the next day, but i've pulled through it,

It just goes to show you haven't got to kill yourself over it,
just weigh things up, put things into prospective!

i ain't betting no more - but i've addressed the situation at this
moment in time.

I'm not happy but i think i've turned a corner Happy

I've been there, Ron, so can sympathise with your feelings. I wouldn't play online blackjack, but have certainly done my conkers at the casino a few times.

Best of luck, sir.

Cheers Poker

people wouldn't believe the severe pain you put upon yourself.

it's sick - but i'm alive - suppose that's the priority Sad

even though it seems a poor substitute to winning , all people remember is the fantastic
winning times even if that happens 1 in 5 as silly as it sounds.

Used to win chunks playing games of skill and do my nuts playing games of chance. Ultimately Ron, you just have to decide not to do it. Nowadays if I stick a score in a fruity I'm beating myself up for days.

Best to determine your pain threshold first.

I tend to remember the heavy losses more than the big wins, Ron.  I'm past my really big gambling days, but clearly recall losing just about everything more than once or twice.  As you say, it's crazy what gamblers put themselves through.

I tell you what though, sir, I actually look back on those days with some nostalgic affection (including the losses).  They were exciting times and I'm grateful for the memories.  You'll feel that way too in time, so I hope you might take heart from that.

It's rather hypocritical of me but I've always considered online gambling to be morally wrong, it's just too easy to incur large losses very quickly, especially when drunk.

Internet roulette, blackjack or (worst of the lot) slot machines, should be illegal in my view.

In my PS account right now there is $1,300,000 in play money I ran up from $1,000 in two fairly short session whilst bored.  Does anyone believe that feat would have been possible with real money?

I just bet on the horses ONLY - absolutely nothing else. My £10 per horse spend (£20 each way if the price is big enough) with an average of £100 spend per day.

Hoping I'm considered as a small time occasional client and won't raise any warning flags with the bookies! So far so good, apart from 3 bookies who have taken away my BOG  privelidge - Victory Chancer, Sid James and SpoilSports.

You can check in an instant how much you've deposited and lost on a debit card. On the high street, you lift £10 out of your pocket do a bet, lift another £10 and the next you know you don't know how much you've won or lost. Betfair is good in that respect. Other sites like Pokerstars and Paddy Power won't give you your deposit history which is wrong imo.

Internet roulette, blackjack or (worst of the lot) slot machines, should be illegal in my view.

Gambling on mathematical games is a loser in the long run. The house has an edge. I heard an interesting poker podcast a few weeks ago where a teacher brought in a roulette table and gave the kids one chip each. One lucky kid won 36 chips but the kids quickly realised that the real winner was the house who made 1 chip on every spin.

Does anyone get the email "One spin and your in"? I devoutly click on it every week and take my 1 x 20p spin and then close the arcade down again. There's £15k worth of prizes up for grabs so my thinking is I must hit some week? Despite 6 months of playing I've yet to win anything from the promotion. That must show the kind of turnover Betfair are making on these when they can afford to give away £15k each week and still make a profit on top.

I'm a bankroll nit btw, I started the year with zero and have managed to turn it into £600 withdrawals and a £100+ bankroll playing poker. I blog about it but mods keep removing my link (I'm an affiliate which is my main reason for doing this)

I left work in 97 with 2 years redundancy, and an insurance policy that paid 2/3 of my salary for 18 months as long as I could provide evidence that I was looking for a job.I had no other money.

In 2002 having discovered Betfair, I was amazed at how easy it was to make money, after the learning curve and won 35k in 3 years.

Then one crazy night on the golf (It was when Monty blew the major) I lost 17k in one night and 8k the week after chasing.

Got most of it back but took years, and I often think how wealthy I would be but for that mad couple of weeks.

Much harder to win now than whem I first started.

Yes it is true, I can confirm that to crags and others.....I can also confirm Ron is a complete idiotCrazy

In fact it may have been my suggestion he take his own lifeBlush...it is not the first time he has done this but by far the worse.

But this hides an uncomfortable truth that these on line casino websites are irresistible to otherwise sane and intelligent
human beings.

I wish they were banned. But of course it is the dark of gambling there are always addicts. But nevertheless it is peoples choice,
for better or worse
