90% of the time my mobile is on mute, the other 10% it's hidden under a cushion.

I don't like 'phones and refuse to take any notice of them whatsoever.

Me too. My very basic mobile is for emergencies only.

A lot of people are so obsessed with their phones they are missing out on real life.
Report Makybe_Diva September 3, 2016 12:22 PM BST
I use it too for texting Mr Makybe or for him to text me to let each other know if we are going to be home late etc.
Report Makybe_Diva September 3, 2016 12:23 PM BST
Our house phone rarely rings. I usually answer it if does.
Report Makybe_Diva September 3, 2016 12:25 PM BST
*if it does.

Having a job to type and concentrate on Burghley HT at the same time.

A generation thing. I never answer the feckin thing, or read the texts till a couple of days later.

Heard on the radio the other day, that your phone mirrors your own personality.... I think that they're onto something there.... Coz mine is out of date, knackered & got no credit
Report Makybe_Diva September 3, 2016 12:38 PM BST
Not always a generation thing I have an Aunt in her 70s  who loves her iPhone and is always on Facebook. She doesn't go anywhere without her iPad and phone.
Report mecca September 3, 2016 12:43 PM BST
Fair play to your Auntie...... My mother is 86 and she's only just sussed out how the light switch works
Report Makybe_Diva September 3, 2016 12:46 PM BST
Aww, bless your mum Love
Report mecca September 3, 2016 12:48 PM BST
Only joking.... But for her age... She is quite... erm, switched on.  Laugh
Report Makybe_Diva September 3, 2016 12:50 PM BST
Well yes, I didn't think your mum was quite that bad Grin

Remember reading about Freddie Couples, the easy going and likeable American golfer, being asked by a journalist why he never answered the phone..

"because someone might be on the other end he replied"

I now don't bother answering the landline, its nearly always a sales/scam call and once you answer your line is marked as "live" and your number is sold on.
Report Tommy Toes September 3, 2016 1:41 PM BST
I got rid of my landline 4 and a half years ago.
Best thing I ever did.
Report Joel September 3, 2016 1:43 PM BST
Is that why you never answer tommy
Report Tommy Toes September 3, 2016 1:46 PM BST

no problem with sales people, they`re just doing a job, ok not a problem.

its friends, or relatives even worse. i would like to be invisible.
Report lfc1971 September 3, 2016 1:51 PM BST
people pretend that it is sales people they don`t like calling them, but it`s not its relatives and friends.

they don`t like to admit it.

I'm not important enough to have a phone.
Report TheBaron September 3, 2016 6:32 PM BST
The sooner we can get rid of having to rent a landline to get a decent deal on broadband the better.
