A few days ago I found sometimes I could copy and paste and another time I could not.  For example, I am studying a course and wanted to save some info,
It would not let me. However rang a mate who has limited knowledge of computers, however it allowed him to do it on his pc.

Any ideas, thanks.

I don't know whether you've tried this -

Instead of "Paste," try "Paste Special"

on occasions when I cannot copy by using the right click function I have been able to copy by highlighting the required text and pressing the ctrl key and c then to paste I go to the required paste destination and press ctrl and v

I get this sometimes, I think it's somehing to do with the clipboard. I get it when copying to a virtual pc using remote access software from time to time.
If you highlight the text, then right click and choose copy from the menu, it will never let you down in my experience.

If the website is blocking you from copying, try highlighting the text then right-click and select "View Page Source" then copy to Notepad and remove the HTML tags. All good browsers support that.

However, the website might just be using Javascript to block the right-click function, in which case turn off JS on your browser and proceed. If you don't want to do that, select the text then click Edit at the top of the page and select Copy.

Be sure to change the wording a little.
You won't get your PhD if your thesis is only copy and paste.
