The Poles, I don't think there is any problem of culture differences here. They are a nice people. But when they come and work here they are taking the bread from out of the mouths of our own workers.
In this competitive World sadly, it is them or us. I think we should support us.
I did not work in the construction industry per see, but have family connections all to do with construction workers. I know the problems they are having.
We do a lot of construction in this country, in the 80's we exported construction workers to Germany, no chance of that now.
As someone posted earlier on this or another thread. Our own youngsters are not being trained in construction, so no future for them.
We must have less Poles, it is a question of survival, I apologise for it, but it must be.

You might be right that Nige could have made even more as a stockbroker than he ( and his German wife ) does as an MEP,but it is less like hard work as he hardly bothers to turn up.
So he had the opportunity to be a multi millionaire trading commodities but chose the easy route, which included being publicy demonised, his family being threatened and years of checking under his car for explosives.

Salmon Spray is like Tony57 an old style genuine left winger. His concerns are for the working people,he is not part of this new style metropolitan self loather.
Its understandable they are wary of Nigel Farage, understandable they are wary of Donald Trump.
The ordinary man was wary of Tony Benn at the start but they listened to what he was saying and realised he was on their side. Its the same with Nigel Farage, listen to what he is saying in,he is now alone in standing up for the ordinary Brit. He is demanding State aid for British industry ( steel) demanding a reopening of mines ( coal ) and British jobs for British workers. Donald Trump despite all the bluster is saying the same.
Both men are railing on about low pay and are prepared to do something about it.

I see Hilary Clinton has joined the ranks to attack Farage using his comments out of context.
“Farage has called for a ban on the children of legal immigrants from public schools and health services, has said women are quote “worth less” than men, and supports scrapping laws that prevent employers from discriminating based on race — that’s who Trump wants by his side. The godfather of this global brand of extreme nationalism is Russian President Vladimir Putin. ”
Farage never suggest that the children of legal immigrants are banned from public schools, but that people who have not paid in to the UK tax system should not be the beneficiaries of public money until they have paid in. This also included the idea of having private insurance to use Britain’s public services – a common thing in the United States.

He certainly milked the system. MEPs make more than MPs and their ( legitimate ) expenses are astronomical. He said that if he was American he wouldn't vote for Hillary if she paid him. I think that covers that. He certainly doesn't want to give free movement to all Germans. So alright he wants to stop SOME Germans coming here.

Do you know how much he was making as a stocbroker for a fact ? If you do and it was substantially more then I will partly back down on that ( only partly because Farage hardly bothered to attend the EU Parliament.) If he was making huge bucks flogging shares that rather obviously endorses his position as part of the establishment. Grow up B-B and stop calling people prats like a silly schoolboy because somebody doesn't care for your hero.

like I said yesterday if he was money orientated as you imply he would have stayed a stockbroker. There is a third choice and that is to abstain, he has not and never has endorsed Donald Trump, he was interviewed again yesterday and reaffirmed what he said before that he thought some of his comments were distasteful. I don't think it was only money as Farage has a huge ego which needs feeding. And I'll give him credit that he no doubt genuinely believes the UK is better out of the EU ( so do I as it happens though I think the arguments are more finely balanced than he does ). I'm not disputing he would let some Germans in but he certainly wants to restrict the unfettered access they have now. I didn't see his later comments in the US but it is being disingenuous to say he didn't endorse Trump when to great cheering ( at a Trump rally ) he said he wouldn't vote for Hillary if she paid him. I don't support hand-wriners. As wildman has pointed out I am an old-style leftie who is probably as pissed off with some of what the PC brigade ( to which Blair and Cameron both belong ) come up with as you are.

I don't think Trump or Farage or even Clinton do this for the money. They are all rich.
They do it because they feel they have something to say. They feel they have the answers to the problems of their country. So it is a cause with them.
They could also like the power and fame it gives them by being in charge of course. But I feel they all have belief in something
Each of us decides individually whether we agree with them or not, and vote for them or not.

I think you are right about most politicians ebulGery in that they are not in it primarily for the money ( Blair may well be an exception and there are others less prominent ). Unfortunately it is not only about their cause but also about their egos to a greater or lesser extent. Trump seems to be right at the high end of ego rather than cause scale. Much higher than Farage tbf.

Farage was a Tory member when wanting to rebel against the Maastricht Treaty. After realising other members who agreed with him would never stand against the political establishment regarding the EU, he realised he would have to tackle it outside of the political establishment. Hence Ukip were born.
It is the political establishment we are talking about here salmon, one that is hellbent for federalisation and forced integration. It is unlikely you would get a working class hero with the knowhow regarding shocking the political establishment as Farage has done. Farage had the knowledge because he had worked from the inside, he was perfect. No - one else like him.
You can call him a populist but he is not an opportunist. He is the oracle of the mechanisms of the EU which is why non of our main party leaders would go head to head with him during the referendum debates.

The strength of ANY government system is its inherent ability to listen to opposing views and form a balanced decision that works for all.As soon as any leadership seeks to disparage and ignore dissent it becomes broken over time. The EU is corrupt and would have shown strength by heeding Farage instead of attacking the man, thereby sealing its own fate over time IMHO.

And, on the theme of Farage's character, does anyone remember the aftermath to the Jo Cox execution, when Farage slipped back into "victim" mode, making the tragedy all about the muted impact of his posters?
Nope, but i do remember Farage saying that he was pulling the poster in light of what happened to Jo Cox, due to the responses regarding the poster. There was no victim mode being played at all UB.
But you know that anyway.

ok united buscuits tbh I am not that interested in Farage
I think the basic cause of the mess we are in is the EU itself.
What was the aim of the EU because people have different views on this
Some people, including myself, though the EU just meant no tariffs, allowing Europen companies to compete over a wider range of countries which would enable them to grow large enough to compete with multi nationals, in particular American multi nationals.
But others seem to have seen it as an opportunity to make Europe into one country, doing away with individual countries. We are all part of the country Europe. It is because of this view of things the EU expanded too much, too quickly.
The tipping point was allowing East European and Balkan countries into the EU in 2001. These were extremely poor ex communist countries. The people of these countries have taken the opportunity to work elsewhere in the EU to earn more money. We are a popular destination. Since 2001 we have been absorbing one million immigrants every three years.
There have been other problems with the EU, do we need a European parliament, European Justice the common agricultural policy? A gross waste of money. Countries were allowed to run up unacceptable debt levels which have endangered the EU, Greece being the worst here.
As an example of human incompetence the EU has done well.

Does that mean that David Cameron endangers the whole country by giving us the opportunity to leave the EU? That is the sign of a weak and incompetent Leader, if Cameron believed leaving the EU would harm us. If Cameron was a strong leader, he should have ignored it.
Cameron governed us not Farage, so Cameron takes the responsibility, that what he was being paid for.

Obviously losing votes and MP's to Ukip is not the ingredient to keeping a foothold in power. Let's not forget Labour was favourite and ahead in the polls. Cameron was under huge pressure not to hand over the keys to Miliband. Unlikely as it was the Tories would gain a majority success, he offered the referendum just to get over the line.
In another coalition the referendum could be talked down. Boom the Tories win with a majority.
By the way, Cameron never believed voting to Leave would 'endanger the whole country' He would not say one way or another in the initial discussions about any impending referendum 6 months before.

Just because Cameron campaigned to Leave the EU does not mean he thought it would endanger the country if we voted out. He lined himself up alongside the establishment backed *experts* Gery, yet 6 months before this he was on record revealing how the UK would do ok outside the EU.
138 Tory MP's supported Brexit Gery, Cameron could have been easily swayed to support it as well behind closed doors. Like all the Tory Party, Cameron will embrace Brexit.....it just means more work for most of them, not so much an endanger issue.

Cameron may not have been bothered about the cheap labour benefit but as a politician it was easier to anticpate the loud lobbying and be cowardly while appeasing by taking the greasy way out and calling ordinary people racist while doing nothing in reality about the problems.Farage effectively called him out on that and the british people spoke for once.

I said being outside the EU may harm us from a trade point of view.
I also questioned whether David Cameron should have offered us a referendum if he felt that it would,
since his motive was only to win an election. This does not seem to me a very moral thing to do.
Of course if he felt we had to have a referendum on principle then that would have been morally correct..
I doubt this though. I think Cameron was a moral vacuum, he did anything just to get and keep power.

If the referendum was to sign up for the 1993 Maastricht Treaty with our 23 years of hindsight, it would never happen. Farage has been challenging this since 1993. 11 years before the 2004 Enlargement of the EU when Poland and the other 9 countries became EU members and introducing free movement for them.
So Farage was opposing the EU as a founder member of Ukip 11 years before the EU migrant issues were upon us. Yet he still gets accused of blaming immigrants for everything.
Most of those who demonise him are totally ignorant to his path.
