Very low probability and impossible are different things. In classical terms quantum tunnelling is impossible yet it happens. In quantum terms it has very low but not zero probability.

only if its possible moonbeam, but we know that life is not possible

By definition anything that has happened is not impossible.

foinavon there is no scientific or maths that says life is possible

everything that we know about the scientific and material world says that life is impossible.
there is no difference between ourselves and a chair or desk in science |

Apart from DNA?

Life exists so it's possible. Perhaps we haven't worked out fully how it happened yet but under certain conditions it was possible. Those conditions don't exist on earth today which makes the task difficult.

there is no difference between ourselves and a chair or desk in science What does that tell you about The Scientific World .. you Plank! ![]() |

no DNA are merely atoms and molecules. we have not the first idea how this leads to life
|
|
By:
Science teaches that we evolved through the Darwinian process of Evolution
Man is 98% identical to an Ape or Chimpanzee But that 2% is HUGE & IMPOSSIBLE to change without serious DNA modification naturally over time . |

"no DNA are merely atoms and molecules. we have not the first idea how this leads to life" is a different argument to "there is no difference between ourselves and a chair or desk in science". I'm going to keep an eye out for my desk having babies otherwise.

By:
No Charlie, science says there is no difference on the molecular level between humans and a desk. And they don't understand the how the difference comes about. Also if it is a Woden desk at one time it would have been a living thing and produced baby trees.

I had a formica desk - did that come from a living organism

yes i think they grow them in the hills above Washington state.

maybe they are manufactured by bigfoot when hes not playing hide & seek

DNA, RNA and MFI – that’s how you self-assemble life. There are mutations occasionally - two desk tops instead of one but one of the drawers is missing.

Why should anything exist? Why should nothing exist? Why should infinity exist ? Why should there be 'why' ? ...etc ...etc...

well scientists believe that we are in a computer construct.
A digital creation? So life doesn't even exist here? Just a machine 10001001 10001011 - Jesus is either laughing or crying at all the bullsheet you gringos are talking about. Darwin is your Buddha and Theories are now solid things? All of you have come up with 3 pages of theories that hold no water. And instantly dismiss GOD as ridiculous, a thing for Children. Like Santa or the Easter Bunny. Jesus lived - a documented fact. In History. Yet you dismiss him as a good teacher. Dismiss his words and deeds. The crowd are still shouting Barabbas. |

My view on this is that I think that ifc1971's views are correct.
The way I see it is this - do you think mankind will EVER be able to create in the laboratory a living organism/cell from NON LIVING MATERIALS? Because either life was created naturally all those billions of years ago, or someone/something planted the very first living cell in the first place and living organisms developed from that. My view is that if we are able to make a living cell from purely non living materials in the laboratory, then the existence of a superior being has to be put into question. If we CAN'T, then you have to ask how on earth did the first ever living cell come into existence. Looking at our surrounding planets/stars etc. We see not a single indication that there is anything out there except non living materials (rocks/gas/chemicals etc.). We've been watching/listening now for a considerable number of years and there hasn't been a single piece of evidence to suggest that there is any life out there beyond our planet. If WE have a desire to communicate to others beyond our planet, then why wouldn't other human like life forms wish to do the same? So, no, I really believe that we are unique certainly in our galaxy and possibly all other galaxies as well. |

Good post from moke.
Obviously, it's a massive leap from chemistry to biology but it's but it's also a pretty big leap from single-celled organisms to more complex life. |
|
By:
I_agree_with_nick
Yes, but that's why it's taken billions of years to develop from a single cell to where we are today. These things take time you know! |
|
By:
My understanding is that the development of single-celled organisms to the next stage, ie more complex, multi-celled life, is a bigger leap than the evolution that followed.
