Immigration in the 50's and 60s saw many people come to this country.
Sikhs, Chinese and those from the commonwealth countries did enrich the UK. They came and accepted our way of life whilst retaining faithful to their own cultures. The same cannot be said of those of the so called religion of peace. |

The cultural Marxism of the privately owned main stream media, though despisable in my eyes, is in some ways excused by the fact that it is privately owned.
The BBC however, is a different matter altogether. Simply by the way it is funded. It is funded by us .... We have no choice... We have to pay for a TV license. The BBC has been stolen from the public by people with an extreme liberal agenda. It's a national disgrace. If you can't see this northanlight, then you must be one of the type that the term ''Sheeple'' was invented for. |

if you want to get rid of the bbc write to yout mp, refuse to pay the license, march in the street but also think of the
alternatives. whatever you think of the beeb they don't have the vested interests that newspapers or other news networks do. have you ever been to the usa? a couple of weeks there and you would be logging on the bbc radio and thanking god for it. maybe the best days are behind them but they still do a lot right particularly on radio. the media has changed in dramatic ways in the last 10 years and the bbc have done better than most to keep up but it is too expensive for them to continue as they are i have to admit |

Well, depends on how you define successful, but the USA is a nation of immigrants and is the most powerful nation on earth, notwithstanding its fixation with violence. North Korea meanwhile, with what I would guess is pretty much zero immigration, is, well, North Korea. |

the USA was based on the values of the European enlightenment. It was not because of immigration in that sense that it became so successful in science and tech and the arts and music etc. it was because of cultural imperialism, the values of the democratic west and europe dating back to ancient Greece. It was successful not because its people were different, but because they were the same. North Korea does not have a civilisation to speak of. Why? well lets look at it this way. There are not many countries that are not European that have these freedoms, i do not mean that freedom and pride are not native to other countries, and people as well. but in us they are inborn, this is our gift from previous generations. |

They are not being criticised for being too christian, if you read the whole story properly they are criticising themselves for being too christian, nobody outside of the bbc has criticised them. some people are real lemmings.

Thanks to Ron for saving me the time in starting a thread on this subject.
Classic BBC news today. Radio 5 live said there's a service today for the victims in Nice when a 'truck ploughed into a crowd'. A truly horrific betrayal of truth. They made it sound like an accident! Then we had a headline on the BBC news app after the machete attack. 'Man who attacked police is dead'. That almost made him out to be the victim!!!!!!! Should have read: 'Muslim terrorist shot dead by brave Belgian police after he launched cowardly machete attack on women colleagues'. |

It was successful not because its people were different, but because they were the same.
I disagree with you slightly here. They came (and continue to come) from a multiplicity of different backgrounds, countries and beliefs. By and large though, they bought into the civic nationalism of the USA, enshrined in its constitution (freedom of speech, religious toleration etc). You work hard and you get on. Sure you have to tolerate the Westborough Baptist Church, The KKK, 'political correctness' and the like - that is a test of your 'American-ness'. But 'Give me your tired, your poor, Your huddled masses yearning to breathe free etc' still works for me. |
