I'm glad the authorities are on the ball. If they had to justify every time they pull someone over they'll become ineffective.
But the authorities are not on the ball if they just stop people who are seen to be reading foreign books. And it is counter-productive in two ways: first, it makes the ones who get stopped more antagonistic to the authorities; more importantly, it gets in the way of stopping genuine threats.
And if you read the story, the police let her fly out and only stopped her on her return flight two weeks later. If she did pose a threat, surely it was to the first flight.

Let me go further: I positively welcome terrorists being stopped.
I don't object to people being stopped on *correct grounds* but that does not include being seen reading a book before getting on a plane a whole two weeks earlier -- a plane which has so far not fallen from the sky in mysterious circumstances.

it is quite simple, do not presume on the good nature of the western nations. at least not until we have a few examples of muslim countries up holding human rights and freedoms.

Intelligence? Electronic sniffing for weapons or explosives? The Israelis do it by looking for patterns of behaviour. Not fortnight-old reports that someone read a foreign book.
