Clouseau do you realise they have someone detailed to them so they dont miss any tests? Plus, what about the other 2? Your naivety is incredible erm... no they don't. She rides for a small ladies cycling team. She had someone appointed to her recently but how do you think that works in a practical sense? The tests are done at random. |

when individuals fail then they should be banned, when the countries system sets in place a neans to cheat then the country should be banned

every Russian athlete knew of their countries corruption, they share the collective guilt.

‘Unfortunately, this system fell apart on June 9 when UK Anti-Doping tried to test me in my hour slot and I was not where I had stated I would be. Simon Thornton had left British Cycling three weeks (earlier) without anybody informing me.
‘If Simon was still in place the following oversight could have been prevented.’ Lizzie now trying to blame Simon Thornton for not holding her hand and wiping her ar5e. How she is allowed to board the plane is a disgrace. She claims in her statement to have had bi weekly meetings with Thornton but then claims no one let her know he left 3 weeks ago Put the spade down Lizzie ![]() |

"It's very easy for the public to believe the worst of athletes. One high-profile, failed test 'proves they are all at it'."
Roger while I appreciate that you have first hand experience of the procedures, the second sentence there is just insane. One high profile failed test??? Are you serious? It has been systemic in sport for decades and as Armstrong and the Conte lab showed passing tests means nothing. It is a sad reality that there have been so many scandals, in so many sports, falied tests or not, over such a long period of time, that is reasonable to assume that PEDs are widespread and that simple logic will make many wonder how the clean cut heroes can beat juiced up monsters. With each new scandal it's a further straw. Many people have watched in wonder and then been left feeling cheated too often. How many times before you just say 'fck this'? |

I should have expressed myself better and also not been dragged off topic......which was, when I replied initially yesterday (top of Page 1), that all Britsh athletes are 'at it' and one high-profile case (Armistead) is proof of this.
I don't believe this is the case - but as you say it would be foolish to adopt the 'King Canute' position regarding the weight of evidence re drugs cheating from Cycling in particular. |

Fair enough, didn't realise you meant UK specifically with that sentence.
Personally as far as the Brits go it's just a case of things adding together - There have been high profile cases in athletics here, there is no global political will to 'go after' us the way there is with Russia, successful nations Kenya and Jamaica have had lax testing regimes to say the least, so how can ours beat them just through bulldog spirit? Surely some should be wanting a refund for their PEDs! It is also the case as with Chambers/Balco that individual athletes can be part of a globalised programme without any knowledge of anyone within the national governing bodies. It's a real shame for clean athletes and it's sad that so many people are so sceptical and get far less enjoyment from these events as they used to. It's just sad all round. |

It is.
My only hope is that those cynically professing to know for certain that everyone is at it, will do the honourable thing and fk right off with ANY comments at all on the Olympics and give free rein to those of us that look forward to watching what we believe to be overwhelmingly 'clean' athletes compete, with some peace, quiet and enjoyment. |

In his commentary Steve Cram showed huge cynicism towards Taoufik Makhloufi when he won the 1500m in London. Quite why such an attitude is acceptable toward Makhloufi but not for Brits only Crammie can explain.
I love watching the athletics as much as ever - but I don't kid myself that what I'm seeing is clean. Same goes for football, tennis, boxing... |

http://www.telegraph.co.uk/athletics/2016/05/27/23-athletes-competing-at-rio-olympics-fail-london-2012-drugs-ret/
London 2012 had one of the highest number of failed tests in Olympic history according to the article above. The fact 23 of these were only caught on the retest shows what a joke testing is. |

So what should we do ? Just ban all sports ? Can anyone name a major sport that is not affected by doping/cheating/corruption ? Shall we just give it all up, or continue to try to catch the cheats ?

Cynics would have nothing to do if you banned all sports.

darts is clean

There's plenty of substances that can be used in darts to get an edge...any kind of stimulant would be advantageous... Gary Anderson drinks enough caffeine that would see him banned under WADA regulations (it is a banned substance in high quantities).
Amphetamine would be the obvious one (Mighty Mike?) Cocaine too would help to an extend (Aidy Lewis). Trust me, PED's are everywhere. |

Saw her interview on TV.
Thought it all a bit odd. First test she made it sound like a tester went to her hotel in Switzerland and the staff said they couldn't give j out guest room numbers so the tester just went home. Would that really be the case? Her 3rd test it sounded like she had pulled some bloke and was riding him rather than a bike so she wasn't where she said she would be. And didn't want to go into further details. All very odd indeed. |

If you are a welder, I imagine you understand you have to wear a safety mask, every time you spark up.
If you are a pilot, you undertake the same checks every time you fly. If you are a software engineer you check every line of code you write. It's called taking your job seriously. If you don't then you can put other peoples lives at risk and you certainly put your own career, performance and ambitions at risk. Same for an athlete and if a lifetime of other people thinking you are a cheat is what you have to deal with well boo-hoo! Don't be so damn stupid and cavalier with your profession - or go work in McDonalds |
