This story just makes me wonder what sort of people there are out there.
You're right, it'll be the self righteous momentum/corbyn type rentamob.
I'm going to make a point of buying a byron burger next chance I get!
Report zorrostrikes August 1, 2016 8:40 PM BST

I don’t fancy Shelleying out that much for a burger tbh.

Byron Burgers?

Do they do a Club (foot) sandwich?

Here's the thing:

If you employ people with no right to work in the UK, you are only liable for a fine if you didn't adequately carry out all the necessary checks, or it is clear that the documents you provided with were not legitimate. If you can show that you checked everything and that you were provided with forged documents which it would be unreasonable to assume were forged, you don't have to pay a penny in fines.

So why did Byron feel the need to co-operate with the uk border agency setting up an elaborate sting, and why are we seeing suggestions in the press that they did so to avoid a 700k fine?

They either chose to go out of their way to f*ck over some ex-employees when there was no burden on them to do so, or they were, quite possibly, not thorough enough in checking their employees' right to work in the UK. Bear in mind this is a company that prides itself on the provenance of the meat it puts in its overpriced hamburgers.

So instead of taken the deserved hit, and fining employers is a far greater deterrent for employing people with no right to work than penalising the employees, decided to collude with the border agency to f*ck over its employees.

It doesn't matter which way you look at it, they behaved like a right bunch of see you next tuesdays.

Those protesting are just scared that they might be forced of the dole to replace them.
Good on the company btw.

Report Ron-Russian August 2, 2016 11:34 PM BST
no doubt to be PC they'll be competed against by 5 G@ys burgers in the very near future
Report GoOnThen August 3, 2016 1:03 PM BST
Resisted the temptation of a 5 Guys burger today in Westfield. Although it was only 11am a few fat phuckers were tucking in to their fare. I plumped for a very nice chicken taouk from a Lebanese place instead. Very nice it was too.
Report lovegod August 3, 2016 1:04 PM BST
Re the 5 G@ys burgers, do they brown their meat?
Report GoOnThen August 3, 2016 1:15 PM BST
With all too frequent regularity I fear.
