The sound on my computer has gone off.  As I am playing several games of poker at once it is highly annoying and could prove expensive!

I can hear 'crackly' noises but not proper sound.  It was working last night and I think first thing this afternoon.  I have checked all the connections, I think, to no avail.

I know there are a lot of intelligent computer nerds on her, grovel, grovel, so please help if you can

Thank you Happy

The problem is normally caused by accidentally muting the sound, but as you can hear crackling it must be a speaker or connection issue.  Do you have a spare set somewhere in the house you could swap over and try?

No, I don't PokerDane, but I have ended the games, couldn't be bothered with the hassle, as I had won enough to cover the entry fees and I don't play for much.  I will try and sort it out later.

Thanks for the help Happy

Your sound card might be slightly loose.

Probably got a lot of dust in the fuffle valve, clean it out.

Deos headphone socket work? There's little info to go on here! Separate speakers? Monitor speakers?
If separate with a standard plug, plug that into like an mp3 player or phone (at low volume initially) to check them?
