I considered downloading that 007 spectre on amazon prime the other day thinking I could rent it for around a fiver which is the general sort of setup on there.
It seems you cant rent it you have to buy it.
Now I know its quite new, but there are newer ones that you can rent for a fiver so to me its just bread dipping again.

Amazon offers a purchased DVD for around a tenner or a download for 9.99.
The download is just a digital copy that you would only be able to watch while your an amazon prime subscriber I would have thought, similar to sky recordings that you have paid subscriptions for but you cant then access after you stop paying sunscriptions.

The hardcopy obviously takes a few days to arrive by post.
Id have thought if you are a prime subscriber and buy the download the least you should expect is a hardcopy following in the post.

So I thought am I really going to watch this film again?
And the answer was no, I very rarely ever watch a film twice so purchases are rank bad value rip offs.

So get fooked james bond Ill wait till its on the BBC in about 10 years.

Rented Hail Caesar instead and was a good film for a fiver.

I couldn't watch any film more than once apart from Zulu, The Godfather, and Goodfellas and even then they were years apart.
Might remember a few others but certainly not the norm.

A Man for All Seasons. Watched that a few times, in fact quite a few times. Blush

BBC never shows Bond films - well once on BBC4 - a bond night special.
Sometimes they show casino royale with David Niven- Not sure you could call that a proper bond film.

ITV has the BOND franchise.

Your local library has all the latest releases for £2.(for a week).
why pay £5 or £10.

I watch a lot of films again. Got a list of fifty that I keep seeing.
jaws - whenever this is one, if I see one minute, I have to watch it.

Alot of people i'd say. Film making as an art is dying. Less and less good films are been made. It's all blockbusters and disney. The only time you see good films is from sept onwards to win the oscar. However is getting less and less each year that's why good films will always be re-watched. I'd say Goodfellas is probably the most re-watched film.
Report Dr Crippen • July 20, 2016 11:05 PM BST

The vast majority I don't even watch once.
Watched A fish called Wanda and The life of Brian twice.
There was a time when The Guns of Navarone was on TV every Christmas and you just couldn't avoid it.
Report dustybin • July 20, 2016 11:45 PM BST
I have watched films more than once but only to kill time really.
I certainly dont have hard copies of films that I put on the tv at home that I re-watch I just do not get the point of it.

Ill rent a film, happy to pay to but once Ive seen it Ive seen it and its dead for all money.

A mate of mine used to have a small selection of videos and he'd re watch them over and over.
I just thought he was a bit slow and was trying to work out the plot.

The library rents out new films for £2 for a week??????
Why arnt they advertising this fact ffs?
The government is in the process of shutting down libraries....if they got their finger out they'd do good business and probably finance the places.

But no, I probably already know the answer....there will likely be disclaimers by rights holders that wont allow the advertising of such services, enterprise given free reign to fleece the public again and good initiatives like libraries can go whistle.

I watch plenty of films more than once. Why would you watch something as good as North By Northwest or Gladiator or Seven and not want to watch it again?

Plenty of others that if I am flicking around the channels and I catch a second of it I have to stick with it, eg. The Italian Job, The Graduate, The Truman Show.

An extremely underrated comedic performance from Kevin Kline in A Fish Called Wanda. I'd have given him the Oscar.

I'd have also given him a bullet for marrying Phoebe Cates...

Would you look at the Mona Lisa only once? Of course you wouldn't, you'd go back for more if you could. And so it is with films like Glengarry Glen Ross, Senna, Gladiator, Saving Private Ryan, Schindler's List etc. - all equally as enjoyable second time round.
Report TheBaron • July 21, 2016 12:40 PM BST
I don't buy films but can watch some several times just depends  on the time between viewing

Recently I've watched Prometheus a few times.  I was a bit disappointed at first but it is potentially a very good film and an opportunity missed .  So now when I watch it I give a running commentary about what should be changed.

I've offered my services to Ridley Scot for the next one but not heard back from him yet.

Im beginning to think this thread should have been about the films people had viewed most often.
The list of these films telling you about the sort of person they possibly are.

In fact I wouldnt be surprised if that is exactly what is going on covertly right now and with Teresa snoopers charter May will probably be watching you watch them and making lists as to who she wants tracking.

Watch plenty of films more than once, some you just have to because you miss so much the first time eg This is spinal tap. I watched One flew over the cuckoos nest again after I'd read that Jack Nicholson doesn't say a single word in the last 20 minutes of the film.
Report dustybin • July 21, 2016 3:10 PM BST
...and what did you do when you saw/ heard that he did/didnt?
Go 'hmmm, well well'?

There a quite a few films that perhaps need to be watched a number of times nowadays as they get dafter and dafter. You have to keep pausing them to get the paradox of the story and the numerous twists in the plots they seem to add like adding sugar to cups of tea.
But I dont, if I missed it first time then so what....has anyone seen how many films are around?

The wife and I were saying we have got way too many, pile one are mine, Tarantino, Coen brothers, Kung fu films, Art house stuff, gigs, old horrors, Complete Russ Meyer films, gangster films, Kes and other British classics. Pile two are shared fims, Rockys, Rambos, Terminators, Die Hards and other decentish films. Batman and most of the Marvel/DC superhero bollock$ aswell, plus modern classics. From the mid 80s onwards. I recokon the split to be around 25%/40%?35%
