I choose my words very carefully here, not that I should have to because we SHOULD all be fully-functioning, clued-up adults aware of stuff like context and nuance. But when it comes to race, all this seems to go out the window.
Pressing on though…. It seems that the person who attacked and injured 4 passengers on the train in Wurzburg last night was an Afghan refugee (refugee from what? I thought we had established peace in Afghanistan? Oh well….) with ISIS material found at his nearby foster home. It is precisely this scenario (and the sex attacks in Cologne and Stockholm and the free movement of terrorists between Paris and Brussels after the Bataclan attack) that many who voted for Brexit sought to highlight as a direct result of the EU’s open borders policy and the inability / unwillingness of authorities to check the bona-fides of migrants / asylum seekers / terrorists / criminals entering the EU. This valid and legitimate question was, in general, drowned out in cries of ‘racism’ and airy-fairy words about us ‘not turning our backs on the world….not being inward looking’ and then something about ‘Little Englanders (never ‘Little Welshies’ or ‘Little Scotlanders because that, er, might be racist mightn’t it? Oh well…) I don’t for one minute think that gaining control of our own borders is the magic bullet that will stop these kind of attacks. I think the answer there lies in ending the civil war in Syria, condemning the toxic theology that gives rise to ISIS and supporting the work of groups like the Quilliam foundation and its pioneering work with de-radicalisation and giving fair and equal opportunities to all communities to share in the wealth of our country, whilst never being afraid to condemn evildoers - like the Rochdale / Rotherham / Oxford/ Aylesbury rape gangs - with the same fervour some give to condemning people who merely voted for Brexit. I do think that assessing the background of anyone wishing to settle in our country is a good idea and measuring what they can contribute to our society on what our society needs. I do not think handing over our migration policy to people smugglers or the EU and the insane Angela Merkel is going to keep anyone safe. |

Today I pray for Chit Chat's very own IAN Mohammed, at daily risk from Pretendy Refugees like this in his very own house. He did no prior Security Checks on them, no doubt believing it would probably work out OK. You see offering his home to "Refugees", whatever their catastrophic intentions, was the "only moral and humanitarian thing to do".
I'm not inclined to post messages on Twitter, but I read a few accounts here and there. I notice that some people have set up hashtags in recent months along the lines of "PrayforParis", "PrayforBrussels" and doubtless today "PrayforGermany". Surely only the stoniest of hearts would not sign up to a "PrayforIanMohammed" hashtag if someone more Twitter-savvy than myself would set it up, and post some sort of link here as proof. I look to you all, the "tolerant" and "progressive" men of Chit Chat to do it. Allah will surely smile upon you for your goodness. |

rtb - you really think the British have established peace in Afghanistan?

From the beeb..
"Mr Herrmann said those who had interacted with the young man in recent months described him as calm and quiet and they could not understand his actions. The teenager had gone to the mosque "on special occasions", he said, but no-one had noticed any radical behaviour and there were no signs yet of a direct link to jihadist networks" What do they expect - the coont to walk around with DAESH or IAN stamped on his forehead? |

The BBC are also, desperately, trying to post some truly cringeworthy propaganda at their website to inform us just how well the pernicious 'refugee' experiment is going in Germany.
It's just as if the sex crimes across the length and breadth of Germany never happened. . http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-36246020 . http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/world-europe-36148418 |

'No link to 'Islamic Extremism'. I agree, unless you count the ISIS flag found in the axeman's room, the cry of 'Allahu Akbar" as he attacked innocent people with an axe, the acceptance of responsibility for the attack by ISIS…. you know, all the stuff we normally associate with such incidents. |

19 Jul 16 12:26 rtb - you really think the British have established peace in Afghanistan? Of course I do. Because otherwise our government would be lying to us and my future son-in-law had his legs blown off out there for NOTHING - and that would never do now would it? |

The placard waving "I love refugees" brigade seem to have gone quiet.
They've gone quiet because, not for the first time, they've got blood on their hands. |

Why did the Germans take so many refugees when the war was mainly down to the Yankees, Brits and French? The Germans must be seething. Merkel what a naive lady.

To get a feeling for the wider ramifications of this attack in Germany, you just need to take a quick look at Twitter in German. Racist and xenophobic comments against asylum seekers compete with equally impassioned arguments in support of refugees - including a tweet by Green MP Renate Kuenast asking why police had killed the attacker rather then injuring him.
This has provoked in turn another storm online, saying the perpetrator is getting more sympathy than the victims. Thank goodness Green MP Renate Kuenast is sticking up for the poor lad. |
