I've been to the USA twice i quite like it there compared to other countries
i've been - i didn't really like Miami, thought it was going to be special.

sailed out of miami port on the freedom of the seas when it was the biggest in the
world.....one fantastic cruise i know off topic Plain

Las Vegas was brilliant - so much more to do than betting.

I've not traveled to anywhere out the ordinary - Ibiza Majorca Tunisia Fuerteventura ,
main land Spain Portugal, Turkey , France as a kid we nicked some bangers the size
of a stick of dynamite out a shop...we bought flick knives hoping to get them
back but the teachers got wind of this & come up with some story about the coach driver will be sacked, a couple folded & grassed - they chucked the lot in the sea Cry

we was only innocent kids even if we'd got a flick knife back it would have been
more like a souvenir / something to look at - to stabbings in them days much

still have their country

Nothing wrong with Turkey I was there 4 weeks ago and I'd go back tomorrow if I had the money.

Best, Prague Czech Republic
Worst, Bucharest, Romania spent 4 days there on my own in 1990 just after Cuacescu got shot. I was the only person who spoke English and there were cues for everything. In fairness it was for a footy match when my team played Staeua and I know how things have improved so I won't hold it against the country and I'd go back again.

Was thinking about bucharest myself. Spent about 4 days there round 2012. Real mixed bag. Got ripped off in the taxi from the airport wasn't a great start. Some truly sad sights of old people destitute on the streets and some streets where building work has started but not gone anywhere. However, the old town is lovely and I had some cracking nights there and I'd be happy to go back.

I've been to Romania,Greece,Serbia and Poland from that list.Romania is my recommendation. They are really nice people and its pretty cheap.Macedonia and Albania are two other good ones that are failry close by, dirt cheap and very friendly.

There ia a really nice city called Brasov there too. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bra%C8%99ov And Timisaora which you would be passing through if you got the train the Serbia.Trains are cheap all over the region albeit pretty slow.
Probably best not to spend too much time in Bucharest. The real charm of the country is in the countryside and smaller cities like Cluj.

Ukraine would be a good shout too.It must be so cheap right now due to the state of the currency.Right now, 1 Euro = 28 Ukrainian Hryvania before the conflict broke out it was usually at 1 Euro = 8 Hryvania Shocked

I follow my team in Europe most years but a few years ago we drew a team from Iceland and if we beat them, we played a team from Ukraine. Flight's to Iceland were £600 at that time while flight's to Krakow (an 8 hour trip to Ukraine) were £55. Needless to say we lost to the team in Iceland but I had a smashing 5 days in Krakow. Had we qualified I may have gave you some advice Grin

Off topic but I second Davy's post. Romania is great but I spent a day in Bucharest before getting the night train to Belgrade and wouldn't be in a rush to go back but would go back to Brasov in a heartbeat even though spent 4 or 5 days there. Sighisoara was a really nice place as well.

zakntthos είναι φανταστική, I stayed in Argassi, went all around the island, the popular haunts of badly behaved Brits like laganas are just ****s, that was 14 years ago, and I learned modern Greek years ago which definitely results in top class treatment from the Greeks who really appreciate anyone taking the trouble just to learn to say hell, please, and thank you, etc,

Some friends of mine returned there last year a didn't recognise the place, or the people, who they said now have a take your money and run attitude. Mass tourism seems to have this effect wherever you go.

you might say in your best Jafaican (CAUTION - THAT TERM COULD CAUSE OFFENCE)  .

'i've just been to London innit !'  but  you wouldn't say 'London's one hell of a sh1tehole innit ? '
Report Coachbuster • July 20, 2016 11:25 PM BST
jafaican is a weird term really since the London accent mix is part Chinese/Bangladesh and a few others thrown in
Report screaming from beneaththewaves • July 20, 2016 11:56 PM BST
I grew up in Slough, Coachbuster. Innit would have been almost the first word I uttered. Now it turns out I've been using it wrongly all these years.Sad

Talking of Slough, I visited a friend last month who'd just moved to Battersea. The walk north from Clapham Junction station was like being transported back to the Slough of the 1970s, in its featureless, depressing shabbiness. Yet this is the most one of the most expensive areas to live in one of the most expensive cities in the world. People are fighting to borrow more money than they will ever earn in their life to lease a flat there.

Don't the inhabitants ever take a step back and think, what the hell have I done to be living here?
Report Coachbuster • July 21, 2016 5:26 PM BST
The way you were using it was correct in authentic cockney speech.

It's just used differently nowadays in London - like sick and safe have a different meaning  Grin  unless you're an authentic cockney from the old days  Cool

could be a cue for a funny comedy sketch come to think of it
