THANKS! For that Davy.Romania is actually my first choice. My intention is to visit either Bucharesti or Cluj.
|

There ia a really nice city called Brasov there too. https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Bra%C8%99ov And Timisaora which you would be passing through if you got the train the Serbia.Trains are cheap all over the region albeit pretty slow.
Probably best not to spend too much time in Bucharest. The real charm of the country is in the countryside and smaller cities like Cluj. |

Ukraine would be a good shout too.It must be so cheap right now due to the state of the currency.Right now, 1 Euro = 28 Ukrainian Hryvania before the conflict broke out it was usually at 1 Euro = 8 Hryvania

I follow my team in Europe most years but a few years ago we drew a team from Iceland and if we beat them, we played a team from Ukraine. Flight's to Iceland were £600 at that time while flight's to Krakow (an 8 hour trip to Ukraine) were £55. Needless to say we lost to the team in Iceland but I had a smashing 5 days in Krakow. Had we qualified I may have gave you some advice

Off topic but I second Davy's post. Romania is great but I spent a day in Bucharest before getting the night train to Belgrade and wouldn't be in a rush to go back but would go back to Brasov in a heartbeat even though spent 4 or 5 days there. Sighisoara was a really nice place as well.

I see that Morocco has a fair few dislikes.Anyone care to elaborate why?
I'm heading there next month, i've been to Egypt before, i'm guessing it's a similar sort of hassle with the touts there? |
|
By:
Hated Morocco, stopped going out of the hotel in the end because of the endless hassling.
|
|
By:
Morocco reminds me of Bob Hope and Bing Crosby. I don't know why.

Best - The Cook Islands

By:
Iceland and Bahrain

Best - France
Worst - London (well, they reckoned after the referendum that they ought to be a separate country on account of being so special and civilized, innit?) |
|
By:
in Multi cultural London speak , 'innit' shouldn't be used as a question .
you might say in your best Jafaican (CAUTION - THAT TERM COULD CAUSE OFFENCE) . 'i've just been to London innit !' but you wouldn't say 'London's one hell of a sh1tehole innit ? ' |
|
By:
jafaican is a weird term really since the London accent mix is part Chinese/Bangladesh and a few others thrown in
|

I grew up in Slough, Coachbuster. Innit would have been almost the first word I uttered. Now it turns out I've been using it wrongly all these years.
![]() Talking of Slough, I visited a friend last month who'd just moved to Battersea. The walk north from Clapham Junction station was like being transported back to the Slough of the 1970s, in its featureless, depressing shabbiness. Yet this is the most one of the most expensive areas to live in one of the most expensive cities in the world. People are fighting to borrow more money than they will ever earn in their life to lease a flat there. Don't the inhabitants ever take a step back and think, what the hell have I done to be living here? |
|
By:
The way you were using it was correct in authentic cockney speech.
It's just used differently nowadays in London - like sick and safe have a different meaning unless you're an authentic cockney from the old days ![]() could be a cue for a funny comedy sketch come to think of it |
