Turkey is very divided though. Erdogan wins basically fair elections quite decisively , with his support coming from religious people in rural areas.

He is hated in the big cities by the mostly secular people who live in them.

It's not the same as previous coups overthrowing undemocratic leaders.

Just curious is the democratic vote a religious vote in Turkey?

Erdogan has a lot of support, not in Istanbul , but if the coup is only in control of cities there will be war.

None of the leaders overthrown in Turkey have been undemocratic.

They have all been elected governments. The Army protects the constitution.

Yes. Good point . Though Turkey was always considered a basket case until the 90s , with the military the only competent and reasonable authority. This kind of thing was not supposed to happen anymore. Erdogan has much stronger support than the regimes overthrown before.
