Erdogan is dangerous. A spot of miltary rule suits all parties. And the Turks know the score - this has happened a few times before.

Boris should be on UK tv telling people that the british in Turkey better be in safe hands or they will have to deal with him.

3 possible outcomes here IMO

1. The coup completely succeeds within 48hrs.

2. Erdogan fully back in control within 48hrs.

3. The biggest Civil War since China in the 1940s

tobes, the turkish are generally on the side of the military on these occasions, that has certainly been the case on the last few occasions.

Turkey is very divided though. Erdogan wins basically fair elections quite decisively , with his support coming from religious people in rural areas.

He is hated in the big cities by the mostly secular people who live in them.

It's not the same as previous coups overthrowing undemocratic leaders.

Just curious is the democratic vote a religious vote in Turkey?
By:

When: 16 Jul 16 00:02
Erdogan has a lot of support, not in Istanbul , but if the coup is only in control of cities there will be war.

None of the leaders overthrown in Turkey have been undemocratic.
