Ron is right. When Ron was brought up and myself we lived a World where Gay Marriage, Gay Families and
Sex with Goats...would not have been considered normal. So now we are asked to accept Gay marriage and Gay families are normal? It ain't easy. We would both have been to taught tolerate Gays, which I have tried to stick to, but not everybody does. We will have to wait another generation to see what happens? There are still problems in the USA with this, particularly with trans gender people, in some states. It is not over yet. Gays have moved from asking for tolerance to demanding their right, hmmmmm? I am not sure this going to work. |

Blackburn, I used to be a Governor at a School in London, where it would have been a living hell for such a child.

Ron - I posted before seeing your 00.34 post. I have nothing to add, apart from saying how reassuring it must be for you to "no what's right and wrong". I admire your certainty.

because they only learn from us and what goes on amongst us.
who am i to judge whether its a man and a woman, two women, two men, or whatever? two good parents no matter what they are to eachother is better than two straight parents if the two straight parents are crap parents. children dont have a reasoned choice in the matter either way. i was brought up by two sh1t parents, but a traditioanl family, i've got the scars to prove it. perhaps if they had split i wouldnt be the headcase i am??? you know i want a ngh with you no matter what old boy ![]() |

children dont have a reasoned choice in the matter either way. I cannot argue with that one swagman. I am still concerned about the effect this is having on the whole of our society? We are destabilising the traditional family unit?????????? |

By:
JS, you make valid points, but presently parents who conceive children generally get to 'raise' them. not a great deal we can do about that Old boy.

erm don't think so JW.
Left wing loons can try & brainwash but they'll never get me. Islam's sick & should be banned |

Boxing - its too late for a detailed response, but my initial response is that kids almost dont care, except to the extent that their views have been coloured by their parents. Our school is rural but by no means idyllic. We have experience of all the scenarios described on this thread (we at least those poached in reasonable terms) Good debate.

Ron - Do you have anything meaningful to add to this thread? I wont have much time in the morning before I get hay'ing so it would be good to have some advance notice.

It's a tricky one blackburn, we all have our differing experiences that colour our judgments, your example is one I would like to see repeated everywhere, unfortunately my experience is different. I used to spend a week or two in various parts of Sussex, but that was 20 years ago, so my knowledge of your part of the world is way out of date, but your village example is heartening none the less.

but what is the traditional family unit? i dont like labels. i dont approve of people like elton john who seem to 'purchase children' at will.
bitf, that is the point i sometimes think about. as much as i say live and let live two men or two women aint going to produce children. all this considered, i still thnik its up to social services to decide who make the best parents. social services should be top of each councils to do list but unfortunately the opposite is true. two good parents of whatever sexuality is better than two sh1t parents. children dont notice labels they just want love from whoever is able to provide it, imo. |

not tonight old boy
![]() i actually dont know many people in the 'non traditional family', but dont want to judge too much. live and let live. ron if kids are brought up with two dads or two mums they wont know any different, that's the great thing about children, they accept much more than us old farts. |

Why am I still up..
Boxing - can only speak for what we know. This isn't the back of beyond, we are posh rural but really extended suburbia now (10 miles north of Brighton and just an hour from London). Ron - "are you saying kids don't care if they either have 2 mums or instead 2 dads?" YES, but to take your stupid question at face value, kids dont fit your stereotypes. Do some research on the subject, it is easily available. |
