I was involved in a motor crash on Monday night, driving on a straight road, two seperate cars appear to be racing each other, and one car has crashed into me head on, on my side of the road, my car front is basically crushed, both air bags deployed, felt like my neck was going to snap off at the point of impact, I managed to get out as the engine was smoking.  The other driver ran off and got into the guys car he was initally racing and they sped off leaving the car he crashed, thou I believe him now to be arrested, I was taken by ambulace to hospital given neck x rays and told I have neck muscle damage, I have bad neck pain now and headaches.

Theres around 10+ witnesses of local residents to the accident,  who say these cars having been dangerous driving 2 nights previous around the village and kept there children inside, they have alerted police who say they can not do anything until they catch them in the act.

I have learned today the car what crashed into me was SORN no insurance,no owner, as I was entitled to a courtesy car on my insurance, the car hire company do some digging to see if they can get you a high spec car and charge to a third party, if not they give you a basic car if your insurer is paying.

im fully comp legal protection and 5 years no claims protected, and they have an uninsured driver policy, ive yet to hear back from my own insurer, thou they have told me they are deducting the access.

Will get a bare minimum for my car off my own insurer ?

There is a book price for every car, try to find out what yours is for when they make you an offer.

Wish you well by the way.

Surely the police are looking for them? This is major road accident they have caused - and then fled a crime scene!

Take it easy FF - hope the neck isn't giving you too much hassle.

Your insurer should have directed you to the Motor Insurers' Bureau
Check out these sites, they may be of help.

Update today from the police that the driver of the car what crashed into me is yet to identified waiting forensics on the airbag to find some DNA.  The register owner and still insured in his name, has said he sold the car 3 days before the accident to a guy, who gave a small deposit in cash and drove off in the car and said he would back the next day to pay the balance, but never returned, the registered keeper doesnt match any description of the driver, and he does nothing to change ownership or have any details of who allegedly sold it to, a dodgy story at the least.

the independent assessor also contacted me and gave a very fair price for car and has fowarded to my insurer, should I still push for me ?

any legal begals out there can help would be fantastic

many thanks

deposit in cash and drove off in the car and said he would back the next day to pay the balance

sounds legit

Insurers always give high car values imo

That sounds really dodgy.
You would just call the police straight away as it's theft.
Report johnizere • July 19, 2016 9:41 AM BST
'gave a small deposit and said he'd be back the next day'.. I'm sure I'd have let someone do that when I parted with the car... told him to take my credit card and stop off and do some shopping while he's at it!
load of b*llocks.

ff as someone else said, you need some medical documentation of your injuries either from hospital that treated you or local doctor.bear in mind some injuries could worsen or become apparent as the days go on hope not,and they must also be recorded by your doctor.

i know someone who had a cross the road, head on smash(driver fell asleep)
they eventually got a payment from others insurence of plus 50 grand, for loss of earnings and ongoing injuries.
course your health is your main concern but dont underplay your injuries to any assessors.good luck.
