A mate of mine called the other day and asked for a loan of 200 quid.He said he was on a bad run and needed a dig out.
I lent his the money and 2 days later he paid me back and said his luck had changed.
He said he was changing his life style and has planed to give up one of his 3 habits .
either drinking smoking or gambling.
I asked which he intended to give up.
he said he did not know as he was hooked on the 3 habits.
I said leave it to me,i will ask the guys on the betfair forum which is the best habit to give up.
so its over to you guys ,Which habit should my mate give up.

forgot to tell you he is usually half p1ssed,smokes like a trooper and like most people looses at the horses .
he is single and unemployed.
But so likeable that no one would see him stuck for a few bob which he always pays back.
how he does it I don't know but that's the sort of guy he is.

I'd go for smoking - but replacing the tobacco with e-cigs, because you're not really giving it up if you turn to the Vapes as an alternative -  but he will save a shed load of money.

I never ever wanted to stop smoking. I was a 'professional smoker' - and loved it, but by happenstance I tried an e-cig almost 5 years ago and have been on the Vapes ever since.

Current price of my old cigs: £10 per pack and I was on 2 packs a day, therefore they would now be costing £140 a week.

Current cost of my vape liquid: 93p per 10ml bottle. I use 3 bottles a week - thus £2.79 to get my nicotine fix now.

Throw in say another quid a week for the bits and pieces you need with your device, it's a total cost of £3.79 per week for the equivalent of a 40 cig a day smoker.

If he wants to carry on enjoying his life and his habits it's definitely going to save him the most money if he becomes a 'Vaper'.

everyone wonders how he does the three.if there is a party hes at it,drinks every day and can wack 200 on a 1/2 shot in mid week.
but I do notice that he is very lucky at the horses and stops gambling for the day if he gets a few quid ahead.
but he says he loses.
in fact everyone calls him lucky joey.

Spot on, Tommy Toes.
I make my own juice, costs around 70p to make 20ml, any flavour you like!
The health benefits from changing to vape from tobacco are noticeable within days.
2 years since I last rolled a ciggy, never going back.

And his life style is not one of a down and out ,he has a nice car and a nice house and fecks off on holiday from time to time.
always well dressed and eats in hotels each day.and he can shift some classy chicks ,the guy lives like a millionaire ,but I know he is not.
but he can be a little slow in making decisions for himself.
and the strange thing is everybody and I mean everyone likes him.

Gambling, you cannot think straight when betting drunk.

Give up the gambling, the country needs the tax from the other two especially now that Tommy has stopped paying his wack.
Report Tommy Toes July 5, 2016 7:11 PM BST
hahaha! Very good Foinavon!

Can't tell you how good it feels not to be robbed by the Treasury every day for about 90% on every packet of f@gs now not smoked!

A very smart move Tommy, good on you.

Smoking and gambling go together.

How does the song go - ''a flame on the one end and a fool on the other.''

Each one is toxic in its own right.Anyone afflicted by the full triumvirate as absolutely no chance whatsoever of living a meaningful life.

gambling - the other two can have physical withdrawals that could kill you.

you can only drink so much.
you can only smoke so much.
but you can lose it all with gambling.
Report SlippyBlue July 5, 2016 7:35 PM BST
Read Paul Merson's autobiography, out of drinking, cocaine, weed, and gambling he said gambling was by far the most destructive of his addictions.
Report Dr Crippen July 5, 2016 8:20 PM BST
What I can never understand about people who get into trouble gambling, is why they risk the house despite knowing that they always lose?
