i tuned in last night to - true entertainment last night at ten past nine. Just missed the start of the tv series 'the prime of miss jean brodie' with Geraldine McEwan- I like the old seventies adaptions so started to notice the old faces. (NOT the FILM - TV SERIES) the old piano teacher was in Dr.who episodes with Pertwee?
Then up pops Victor Carin - I loved this guy from Raffles. He played Inspector MacKenzie, Raffles Nemesis. (Anthony Valentine series from 1977)
He looked amazing, Jet black hair, hawk like angular features and fantastic dramatic voice. In raffles they have him in wigs and side burns.
I used to cry off school in the seventies to watch Raffles. Watch it on the portable tv.
So watching him again made me think... what ever happened to him. Really thought he was a terrific actor.
googled him and found out he died in 1981 of cancer aged 47.

"His final television appearance was as himself in a BBC documentary about dying; he was interviewed several times at different stages of the cancer which eventually killed him. This was extremely controversial and was considered by many to be an invasion of a dying man's privacy, but he was most anxious to participate." imdb
