don't know, attended Jo Cox's funeral maybe?
Report treetop • June 28, 2016 11:32 PM BST
He should have stood above it and promised to abide with whatever decision the British people decded to do. Once he led the campaign and allowed the govt machine to take a side he encouraged any anti tory grievance to be attached to the Remain campaign. The politics of resentment may not have been that large but I certainly believe it was more than 5% which could have swung it.
Report Ron-Russian • June 28, 2016 11:35 PM BST
Always worth remembering he cheated from day 1 with the overspend on the
leaflets - you wouldn't trust the weasel as far as you could kick him.
Report bix • June 29, 2016 9:27 AM BST
Should have stayed out of things instead of talking down to people and telling us what was best for us. He came over as completely untrustworthy and must have done the Tories a lot of harm.Lost credibility by pretending he had got a good deal out of the EU when in reality he came away with nothing.
Report Crisp77 • June 29, 2016 9:40 AM BST
More multi millionaire celebrities and business owners telling us to remain would have done it.
Report The Leopard • June 29, 2016 9:48 AM BST
Maybe if he had admitted he had sh*gged Rebecca Brookes

That would have swung it !
Report parispike • June 29, 2016 9:51 AM BST
The scare tactics were counter productive in my view.

Far better to have emphasised how  we could prosper if out of EU but that we'd be even better in. If that's what you believe.I don't.
Report dunlaying • June 29, 2016 11:19 AM BST
He might well have won if he had kept Obama, Brendan, Geldof etc out of it. Cameron is a nincompoop , politically speaking that is.
Report Blackrock • June 29, 2016 12:20 PM BST
Cameron should have voted leave. That would have swung it in remains favour.
Report Racingqueen • June 29, 2016 12:24 PM BST
could have f**ked some pigs maybe
Report ebulGery • June 29, 2016 1:00 PM BST
Laugh

If he really thought it was better for us to stay in the EU.....then why offer a referendumCrazy

He has been elected to govern this country...he is allowed to make decisions
Report Dr Crippen • June 29, 2016 1:26 PM BST
I agree with treetop, Cameron should have remained on the side lines and not got involved in the slanging match of lies and deceit.

Harold Wilson had already showed him how it should be done when he held a referendum on the EU.

That 9 millions he spent of taxpayers money on a remain sheet started the rot.
After that, fewer and fewer people were prepared to believe the government because of that fist hit below the belt.
Report vindaloo • June 29, 2016 1:28 PM BST
if he would of remained impartial and put across both sides of the argument properly then im certain we would of remained in the eu
Report 1st time poster • June 29, 2016 1:45 PM BST
in that case  by default he got it right, Wink
Report Breedingmad • June 29, 2016 2:37 PM BST
At least we have got control and our destiny is no longer in the hands of a few bureaucrats in Brussels.
Report bix • June 30, 2016 6:29 PM BST
we would of remained in the eu

would have please
Report zorrostrikes • June 30, 2016 8:02 PM BST

General consensus here is....

David Cameron the 21st century's answer to Neville Chamberlain.
Report bix • July 1, 2016 10:01 AM BST
Lost credibility also when telling Obama to tell us we'd be at the back of the queue for trade deals if we left.
Report TheBetterBettor • July 5, 2016 8:10 AM BST
If it was all about immigration maybe cameron should've guaranteed the continuation of free movement to the uk post brexit...

That would refocus the argument on the economy and neutralise the leave campaign's main stance.
Report G1_Jockey_4 • July 5, 2016 8:28 AM BST
shouldnt have gone in dumbing down the issues of negotiating tariffs and its knock on effects.
problem he had the public in general dont want to go down that route because its boring.

much easier to promote issues like immigration , nhs struggling (tories fault so they could hardly use that but corbyn could have)....laws another thing cameron couldnt go into because some of their laws were ridiculous especially austerity which the un has even slammed as unfair on the poor.

he didnt think it through when it was put in their manifesto.

if the government can make such a monumental **** up then how can you expect them to lead us forward from here?
Report xmoneyx • July 5, 2016 9:44 AM BST
he's been saying for years at PMQs how bad EU is

no one,not even his mother believed him, when he said remain
Report Dr Crippen • July 5, 2016 10:50 AM BST
How can you sell handing the control of your country to another power?
Report ebulGery • July 5, 2016 11:18 AM BST
Well if he did not want us to leave...he should not have offered a referendum should heCrazy

Still he did...and people have spoken.
Report ebulGery • July 5, 2016 11:21 AM BST

especially austerity which the un has even slammed as unfair on the poor.

I agee Jockey4, I hate Cameron and all modern Tories for that.
Neither does it help a business recovery???...the poor don't have a lot of money to spendCrazy
Report Hound-Dog-2 • July 5, 2016 4:00 PM BST
In future I will never believe any stories in the papers about poll results. Polls have become notoriously unreliable in the last 5-10 years.
Report Knight Commander • July 5, 2016 9:38 PM BST
He could have tried being honest. Oh, hang on Crazy
