the code used to be only take what you are actually going to eat, leave stuff for others to enjoy. Many seem to be doing now to line their pockets.

always thought wild mushroom picking was a bit like playing russian roulette sooner or later you were going to get it.

Where I live is almost in the country side and I quite fancy the idea of a spot of foridging, think I will keep it simple with plants I recognise.

Who is buying them burton?
Report topshot • June 19, 2016 1:28 PM BST
Used to love putting hooks into crab and lobster holes at low tide to see what would grab on, also at low tide turning rocks for ormers(abalones), a great delicacy.

Elderflowers are in season if anyone fancies making elderflower champagne. A bag of sugar is all that's needed.

Report macarony • June 19, 2016 6:34 PM BST
would be nice if we could have in season what to pick and what to do with it by those in the know.
Report Burton-Brewers • June 19, 2016 6:47 PM BST
mushrooms are all year in their various types, autumn is best for your traditional field varieties like flatcaps and button. Berries usually around August, chestnuts late November early December
Report macarony • June 19, 2016 7:00 PM BST
no what I meant was post up what to look for as when it is in season sorry for any confusion
Report onlooker • June 19, 2016 7:11 PM BST
Why do you type, "Foridgers," and "foridging"? - when there is no such word

After all - You did, correctly, type, "forAge," in your opening post.
Report macarony • June 19, 2016 7:23 PM BST

Report onlooker • June 19, 2016 7:38 PM BST
I merely asked a polite question -

Confirmed by the - ? mark.

- and, also, politely  stated that, "You did, correctly, type, "forAge,"

- unlike your IMpolite response.

there's always masses of blackberries after summer, but scared they might have been sprayed on by council workers. they also use pesticides too.

Who cares about spelling, everyone knew what the OP meant.

I'm not a forager nor am going to brew my own Elderflower post.

I do brew my own beer and am passionate about that (from grain not extract), I can help anyone considering.

If anyone is seriously interested, and in the south of England, I can thoroughly recommend the mushroom foraging courses run on the Cowdray Park estate near Midhurst in Sussex.  Not cheap but brilliant training.    Nine of us on my course, and I think I was fifthCry with just 4.6kgCool of ceps and others. Our trainer said our total "pick" would have been worth £700 on the London Restaurant market. They even teach you how to dry them for future use.   I am booked on the advanced course in November this year.

nb - picked a kilo of St George's early last month. Amazing.

Brilliant burton you make me laugh.

I know little about you but your prevailing strong personality trait is a superiority complex.

Keep it flourishing old boy.
