I used to empty houses for estate lawyers. Given the keys the team would go to a house and opening the door was always a point for excitement and trepidation. What would we find? In a lot of the houses. there were similar patterns. We'd find a stashes of brown wrapping paper, jam jars, bottles, wood, newspapers, alcohol and rusty food tins. The people who lived with all this trash had lived through the war when it all became rare. So the idea of throwing out all this gear became abhorrent. On one occasion we opened the door to one room and it was full of paint tins and refundable soda bottles. next to the soda bottles was a hand made go-kart with pram wheels, possible to transport the bottles to the Newsagents to get the cash refund. The boss said... this Koont has been an entrepreneur. I could not stop laughing at this... it was the insane stockpiling that tipped the scale. I immediately imagined a man taking a go-kart and bottles down three floors to return his cache. an entrepreneur? We'd be there for hours clearing this collection to the local dump.
Take anything worthwhile to high end auction. Lesser stuff to low end auction. the rest to charities. other stuff to coup(giant dumps). the lawyers tried to get all the value out of the estate. every day you encountered new madness. Very eye opening. Found a live grenade one day with a rotting trigger. Bomb disposal arrived. Found guns taped to tables(police again called in). Found everything but a body? always thought we'd find one.

You should be grateful you did not find a body zorro, it is not a pleasant sight
The longer it has lain, the more unpleasant it gets.
Bodies are for the forensic guys, they are trained to it, and will happily munch their sandwiches while dissecting a corpse.

went to a huge house with seventeen rooms in its own grounds - the auctioneers were with us on that one and i went into the rafters of the attic to pull out oak leaf bedposts stored in stoor and cobwebs. Real dirt that coated your lungs. You spat black. blew your nose and an alien came out. Anyway we emptied the house of anything of value for the posh saleroom. I got a lung infection for my efforts, Green gunk which needed antibiotics to get rid of it. a month later the lawyers asked the boss how much to clear the residue - everything else out of the house. He came to a deal and we went back. Caught the same thing again. Place was a disease in house form.

A mate cleared out an old office for a bookie. Told to get rid of everything. Found 5 old type phones and numerous paintings/prints in basement. Made himself an extra £500 or so. I've got one of the phones.
