Now boys can wear skirts to class as schools introduce 'gender neutral' uniforms in a new drive to be sensitive to 'trans' children
Eighty state schools, including 40 primaries, have rewritten uniform policy
Government-funded drive for schools to have transgender-friendly uniform
Allens Croft School in Birmingham believed to be first primary to change
Brighton College, an independent school, adopted policy earlier this year

Scores of schools have adopted 'gender-neutral' uniform policies that allow boys to wear skirts.
Around 40 state secondary and 40 state primary schools have changed their dress rules in a drive to be more sensitive to transgender pupils.
They have either dropped references to girls and boys, or have altered them to say pupils can dress in the uniform in which they feel most comfortable. It will mean children as young as five will be able to 'come out' as trans without breaking uniform rules.
Diversity campaigners have warned schools that current policies risk discriminating against lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender pupils. However, Christian groups fear that introducing a choice of uniform could confuse youngsters.
Allens Croft School in Birmingham is believed to be the first state primary to declare it has a 'gender neutral' uniform.
Its rules state that boys can wear a grey or black skirt or pinafore while girls can wear grey or black trousers. It says it aims 'to promote each child's right to express their gender and personality in whichever way feels right for them'.
Head Paula Weaver said there were pupils who do not dress along traditional gender lines. The primary is designated a 'best practice school' by the charity Educate and Celebrate, which has received £200,000 from the Department for Education to give diversity training to schools.
Mrs Weaver told The Sunday Times: 'Everybody has the right to be themselves – that was the impetus for it. We do lots of work through literature and drama and we talk to children about the fact we have someone who was assigned male at birth who is saying 'I'm a girl'. It's about being open with them and about everyone feeling OK.'
Elly Barnes, founder of Educate and Celebrate, said so far about 80 schools had adopted gender-neutral uniform codes. They are in a range of areas including Cheshire, Southampton, Durham, Bristol, Chichester, Hartlepool and London.
Miss Barnes said: 'In some schools, when I have the initial staff meeting and talk about gender-neutral uniforms, the reaction is 'We can't do it, parents won't like it'. But as soon as they do it, they find out there is absolutely no difference.
'You don't get boys coming in to schools suddenly wearing skirts. But it just gives that space for it not to be an issue if there are trans kids.'
Andrea Williams, of Christian Concern, said the gender-neutral uniforms could mean schools were pushing an agenda on impressionable minds.
She said: 'We are increasingly seeing boundaries being overstepped and it is concerning.'
Logan Symonds, four, wears a pinafore to school as his mother Emma is convinced he is a girl. The 34-year-old, from Tredworth, Gloucester, noticed he loved wearing dresses and playing with dolls as a toddler, but thought it was just a phase.
But soon she realised Logan was different from non-identical twin Alfie, and she agreed to let him wear a pinafore to school 'to be like all the other girls'. Earlier this year she told how he would throw tantrums whenever she put him in male clothes.
She said the head of his school has been supportive.
However, she is reluctant to label him as 'transgender' at such a young age and says she will wait before seeking professional advice.
A Government source said Educate and Celebrate received funding for training staff to deal with transphobic bullying – not to help implement uniform policies.
Transgender criminals will be able to choose between male and female prisons under official guidance drawn up by ministers. The policy would mean convicts would be allowed to serve their sentences alongside those of the gender they 'identify with', The Sunday Times reported

But people also have the right to find this un natural

themightymac - I hate to cross swords with a friend but you're spouting b ollocks aren't you?

"SASSENACHS don't know the difference between skirts and a kilt" - that may be because, to all intents and purposes, and to most people, they are identical. If you want to get into pleating ratios, knee length or detailed questions of the plaid, I'll need to get Mrs Barn.

Re the knife and the Sgian Dubh, you've had feedback, but the fact remains that this weapon is given special status in law (like a turban, well not as sharp) for social and cultural reasons.

For what it is worth, this whole story is imo a fuss about nothing, and does not in any way represent a change battering against the door of British tolerance or even fruitcakenessWink.
Report Sica Dan • June 13, 2016 11:55 PM BST
The modern kilt was actually devised  by a Sassenach, not many Scots know that.
Report akabula • June 14, 2016 12:00 AM BST
A Sassenach could still be Scottish Sica as the term refers to lowlanders and was initially aimed at those Scots who lived outside the highlands
Report akabula • June 14, 2016 12:05 AM BST
Dont they wear them in Scotland too, and they are allowed to carry long knives as long as they tuck them in the sock.

Unlike you correcting mac I'm happy, make that extremely happy, to correct you.
The Sgian Dubh is a short bladed knife.
Report blackbarn • June 14, 2016 12:10 AM BST
Akabula/Sica Dan - so between the three of us, we are struggling for a cultural and stylistic difference between the kilt and the skirt.
We should wait for themightymac though.........
Report akabula • June 14, 2016 12:28 AM BST
Never been a fan of the kilt especially since the tartan army adopted it en masse it would appear.

We allowed commercial interests to destroy childhood - mobile phones, child-exploitive TV/satellite/internet, expensive toys/trainers/clothes etc.   That the sexuality-lobbies are moving in on them to stake a claim on their 'constituencies' is hardly surprising. Brain development isn't complete until the early twenties - they should be given a broadly neutral/informative environment until then.
Report ebulGery • June 14, 2016 12:46 AM BST

Every day there are instances of poor parenting on twitter.
I don't use it but I follow a few and they often retweet.
One today was of a wee boy of 3 singing a football song with the word chyte in it.
Obviously his parents thought this hilarious as they caught it on their phone and posted it to twitter.
Another was of an older child singing a rhyme to her mother (was the mother's response in the clip)
Was about her having sex with 2 men. That funny she posted it. FFS
