I'm all for democracy - burn for it in fact - but I'm definitely against idiocy and bone-idleness.

So if you haven't registered to vote in the forthcoming EU referendum, then next time, get your act together quicker.

why the hell were people leaving it until 11.00pm last night when this has been available for weeks, absolutely baffling.

To answer your question, idiocy and bone-idleness

Will be interesting if they manage to provide us a figure of exactly how many people were allowed to register after the midnight deadline.
And then we get to see what the differential is in the final vote.
There's definitely some strange things going on.
I registered to vote by proxy nearly 3 weeks ago now and neither myself nor my elected proxy have received any notification whatsoever.
I've been back to the council offices once already to find out what's going on and they tell me it's all under control.
I go on holiday on Saturday for a fortnight, possibly not knowing whether my elected proxy will be allowed to vote on my behalf.
What's the betting he gets to the polling station while I'm away and there's no record of it on the polling register?
Even if you do try to sort things out in advance, you are still at the mercy of these muppets.
I shall be going back to the council office AGAIN tomorrow, as I want some kind of assurance BEFORE I go away.

The deadline has been extended by 48 hours now.

Given this is seen as a move to allow more young voters to register and that young voters are seen to be more 'Remain-leaning' it really does appear that the Remain campaign do not like a fair fight.

From using our Tax £'s to push their agenda, to this, to the not-so-subtle BBC (and it would now appear, ITV bias) it's been questionable decision to outright cheating time and again by the Remain campaign throughout this whole period

Get with the leave line! "Senior figures on Leave side think someone deliberately crashed electoral registration site."
Report DIE LINKE • June 8, 2016 4:16 PM BST
btw whether the answer is a Tory conspiracy or yet another Tory IT fck up, it is perfectly reasonable for people to expect to be able to carry out a registration which takes 5 minutes over an hour before the deadline. It is 2016 after all (although I do accept that Brexiters want to take us back to the 1920s!)
Report unitedbiscuits • June 8, 2016 4:25 PM BST
No real reason for a deadline to vote, gates should be open until the 22nd..
Credit BBC with their campaign.
Report Ibrahima Sonko • June 8, 2016 4:40 PM BST
They should re-open it for the 25 minutes that were lost during the crash, seems perfectly reasonable to me.
Report Just Checking • June 8, 2016 7:01 PM BST
Corbyn apparently sent out a request to people to sign up ... 30 minutes before the deadline!!

He's not blessed with common sense is he. Or maybe the conspiracy is right, it's certainly got a lot of publicity for people who had left it too late to sign up, who tend to be as stated about young and stupid and therefore remain voters ...
Report xmoneyx • June 8, 2016 7:12 PM BST
extended till thurs midnight
Report wildmanfromborneo • June 8, 2016 7:23 PM BST
They have to go to those no go areas and sign up all the block voters.

All those Roma in South Yorkshire must be brought on board.
Those Imams with multiple houses and multiple wives have to be signed up.
Those Eastern European gentlemen who have long since gone home but still collect dole in England have to be accommodated.
Irish travellers who have votes in a few jurisdictions must be signed up.

Just despair at the stupidity of a large portion of the population and their 'manyana' attitude to one of our greatest freedoms.

Still, in the words of the great Randle P McMurphy Cameron and his lot are 'somethin' of a cnt, ain't they, Doc?They like a **** game, you know what I mean?'

Love the way the likes of just checking and rogerthebutler are insulting young voters all over the net. How to win friends and influence voters! Crazy
Report rogerthebutler • June 9, 2016 8:28 AM BST
I'm deploring the attitude to democracy of those so thick and bone-idle they can't get it together enough to register for this most fundamental of freedoms as soon as they move to a new home and have to be marketed to in order to exercise this basic right - and then leave it right until the last minute to do so.

Rather patronising to think that's just young people.

Still, if we can't enforce the rules of society, well we'll just change them to accommodate the lowest denominator.
Report jollyswagman • June 9, 2016 10:20 AM BST
apparently 70% of the people attempting to register are already registered Cry

Polling stations will be kept open on 24th, 25th and 26th June for the sake of being fair and democratic to the thick, bone idle and fecklessMischief. Public servants will be on hand to show latecomers where to put their cross and to assist their bleary eyes to find the slit in the ballot box.
Report gresty241 • June 9, 2016 4:09 PM BST
and for those who are confused on how to vote staff will be on hand to inform people that if they wish to remain in the EU they need to put a cross in the REMAIN box and for those who are in favour of BREXIT they need to put a cross in both boxes.
Report Roger The Butler • June 10, 2016 8:24 PM BST
The media have not been making it clear at all, and have in fact been very misleading in whether you need to register or not.

The other morning BBC Radio 5 had a big piece about only 1.5m people have registered to vote in the Euro referendum and people only had until the end of the day to register else they couldn't vote. It was only as they were signing off the piece that one of them said as a complete afterthought "though if you are already a registered voter you won't need to do this". It was reporting of the crappest order and until the little p.s. at the end they had almost convinced me that I was going to miss out on voting if I didn't register, and I've had a polling card for years.

It's no wonder that so many people have tried to register to vote on this when they are already registered - they are not thick, they are reading misleading information that is panicking them into doing things they don't need to.
Report Just Checking • June 10, 2016 9:42 PM BST

Report Ibrahima Sonko • June 10, 2016 9:51 PM BST
We all know that DC got information of the postal votes and out were winning, the in spent millions on the media networks to promote this, aiming at the stupid. The late campaign led to vote rigging.

Hopefully we will get an honest result.

So everyone registered now?

Government happy? Population happy? Everyone know the way to the Polling Station or are you still having trouble responding to light?

Once you get there you'll find the nice people ask you to put a big 'kiss' next to the option you prefer - and a quick hint, the answer isn't 'Toblerone'
