Hello all, does anyone know roughly how much it should cost for a buffet, cold meats, salmon , salads etc to include staff and linen and cutlery plates glasses etc. (Not booze) in a marquee in a field (paid for), price per head. I know there are a number of ifs and buts but just need a rough practical cost please.

Thanks

pot noodles all round

Forget the Pot Noodles - get a  big aluminium bin thing and fill it with 19p Aldi noodles, some dried shrimp and a couple of tins of dainty dog food. Turn it into an exotic community event. Also, get the cheapskate guests to pay YOU as part of a "charity" assault on the T0TE Jackpot. Insist that you hold the ticket and scarper if you win.

Sod that. Bribe the happy couple to elope the week before. A monkey and two returns to Gretna Green should cover it.

You'll be needing outside toilets if your prawn ring goes off

I think you'll find a wide variation due to the number of staff required and for how many hours, my son's was at an hotel so they had the staff and didn't have to bring anyone in.

If you buy the food yourself, good quality still, ingredients should be well under £10/head.  Could get a york ham or two and  one of those iberico ones from Aldi.  A few whole salmon, prawns, oysters?, roast beef, roast chicken, even get a couple of whole fillets of beef and do beef carpaccio then loads of salad and some carb based salads too -rice, pasta, potatoes.  Ain't gonna come to over a grand is it.  You need one chef/delegator who knows what he is doing, 10 hours work say £150.  He will need a couple of people to help him in the kitchen/serving/collecting dishes later on for 8 hours, call that £150. Perhaps 3 more each working 6 hours tidying up/serving etc.  About another £150.  Between them they do all the washing up whilst the dancing and speeches are happening.

So we got 1k(Max) Ingredients, £450 wages.  fk knows about cutlery, crockery and table cloths though.  Surely no more than £550.

So less than £2k if you play your cards right I reckon.

I took about 40 people to a nice restaurant in town. We had a decent three course meal each, wine put on the table whenever it was needed and a few decorations/wedding cake etc, and the bill was roughly £1400. Everybody seemed happy with what they got and it didn't break the bank.

When I was a kid everyone loved a McDonald's children's party.

Not sure if they do weddings though

It was a great deal. Anybody thinking of spending fortunes on wedding day meals need to get in touch with local restaurants that they like. This place opened especially for us, put on a great menu (which sadly had to be pre ordered) and got plenty of staff in. After we'd finished we just moved on to the hotel where we were staying.
