Never encountered this problem before, and maybe a Chit Chatter can assist.
Have a Panasonic handset (N2QAYB000127) which has always controlled both the TV and DVD box successfully, until a few days ago.
The handset still interacts with the DVD box without any problems, but curiously I get no response at all from the six buttons on it which tell the TV what to do.
Replacement handsets can be purchased easily enough, but I am perplexed as to why it should suddenly not operate the TV as normal, when all the other functions work.
Is it possible that some button has been pressed inadvertently that stopped the TV responding to the handset's commands? Have checked all the connections at back of TV and DVD box and they seem OK.
Any tech wizards out there who might be able to suggest avenues to explore?
Kind regards in anticipation of some sensible replies.
sounds obvious but have you changed the batteries for known good uns ,clean conections in remote
then have a look at remote through a phone camera and see if it is sending a Infa red signal on tv funtion
try a hard reset of tv ,when switched on power off at wall .

Thanks, I wouldn't know anything about that unless I looked at a manual.

Thanks, we've tried a selection of batteries and they all seem fine. I must confess I don't have a camera phone (small children still laugh at me for it) so unable to try that test, but we've tried to complete switch-off and on to no success.

No Zen, there are separate buttons on the handset for switching the TV and DVD boxes on and off.
The 6 buttons that operate the TV are kind of in a little oblong shape on their own on the handset. See top right-hand side on photo of handset, link below

Remote controls can malfunction through chaotic sequence changes. One technique to reset them is to take out the batteries and hold down every button individually for 3 secs. It will free up any buttons that are effecting any sequence stall.

I have found an alternative slightly older Panasonic handset around the house which CAN operate the TV functions OK, so there is a temporary work-around solution. More importantly it seems to prove that the TV is currently giving off whatever signal is needed to interact with a handset.

Not for the first time, YOU are THE man for all reasons on here.
I dug out the Manual, and on the Troubleshooting page discovered some advice about the handset. It directed me to press down the TV button on handset and simultaneously type in the code they supplied for a Panasonic TV. Hey Presto, the TV now responds to the Remote Controller's commands.
Terrific advice. A problem I had never previously encountered in 12 years of operation.

More importantly, the Great Man has also freed me from the Nightmare Scenario of having to stump up the best part of £15 for a replacement. That money will assuredly be better spent on umpteen packets of Morrisons Tiger Baps.
