the big bang THEORY ? Meaning it's a theory which a lot of physicists dispute - it no longer fits? It basically was a band aid to cover the gap of what they don't know. 1950-2014 - it was nice it made us look smart.

Einstein once said - We still do not know one-thousandth of one percent of what nature has revealed to us.

Edison - We don't know a millionth of one percent about anything.

You cannot say the Big Bang theory no longer fits...since it is still the consensus view.
Some scientists challenge it of course because that is how science works, one problem is Quantum Physics.

You are right about Einstein and Edison, in fact one could say, the more we discover the less we know.

So the creationist theory is still an option zorro, not ruled out entirely yet with me, proof is the problem of course.

Surley lmfao has had enough time to get back to be about the not so
great prophet muhammeds crimes dont't you think BG?

Right then- research takes a while :)

M was a merchant known for his honest dealings who , in his 30's , became disenchanted with his 'modern life' and the corruption around him - and the worship of 'false gods' - who increasingy left the city to wander the desert and to think and reflect upon life; when his revelations came to him he was petrified and afraid- reportedly shaking uncontrolably -so something happened which shook him to the core , alone in the desert-- bit like jesus ?

I was expecting to learn about a bloody barsteward living in barbaric times - whilst the latter is true through our eyes - from what i've read/ absorbed recently - the former is most certainly not.

Just for the record: I am not pro-Islam - I denounce all terrorist acts and I think the world might well be a better place without any religion.

The best analysis I have found is from the BBC - a series of 3 documentaries available on youtube - heres the first link- part 1

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oVGieY0W6lY

Re his murdering people: recommend you focus on the documentary part 2 and about the killing of upto 700 jews:

Context : at the time the penalty for stealing a loaf of bread was death;

M was now leader of his tribe; he had twice told the jewish tribe which attacked his to decease- the 2nd time he banished them -after the third attack when they had not left  M, - even then- did not order executions-incredibly he walked away saying that they must be judged and if found guilty punished -  the Jews themselves appointed  an independent arbiter to judge them according to law- and the arbiter ordered the executions.

Do some reading - watch the videos

The claim is that M said his revelations directed holy war was just and right 'to protect yourself' and that it was not until a century after his death that this was perverted by disgrunted minorities within Islam

Read / watch about Mecca containing Jews/Christians and Muslims living in one community in M's home town during his lifetime / reign as leader.- and about the subsequent 'Golden Age ' when the same happened in Spain following the Moors invasion in 711 ad

I'll have a look at the killings listed of individual 'poets' etc

Again- I've o axe to grind here; I'm white english atheist and was never taught anything about this in school and am worried about rampant immigration

cheers for now Cool

I think that the one profound difference between Jesus the man and M is that M became a tribal leader - with that came the responsibility to protect his people weighed down by the burden of politics and the laws of his time ; J did not and was free to preach whatever he liked - tho there were consequences !

Another difference is that M's life is documented to a much greater degree than J's

some even claim J cannot be proved to have existed- but i guess that's another discussion....

I might watch those documentaries.

I feel things have got somewhat out of hand circa the last 25 years, because of Americas somewhat heavy booted

approach to solving the Middle East. Because we in Europe rather unwisely supported them we are taking a Muslim backlash.

Muslims don't see things the same as us, that is also clear. It does create problems with them being in our societies.

Although I do not think people realise how much we have changed ourselves since to 60's.

Mass immigration was never a good idea, but we cannot tell our own leaders thatSad, still we voted them in.

I just want to see some compromise here in an attempt to reduce the current hate levels.

I think Trump could be the man. If you see what he says, he is not as extremist as you think, he will offer a hand.

cheers e

currently I truely don't think M was anything other than a good guy - but as ever its what some others have made of him / his revelations/teachings which have perverted what he may have stood for

also
Its difficult to understand the minds of those living in different times / cultures - from what little i've grasped from numerous trips around europe - sometimes with historians and /or archeologists - the  medieval mindset was so very different to ours;

years back i was in Senegal : met a traumatised UN aid worker resting from work in Mali - he threatened to retract all food aid from an area unless a General in the civil war withdrew his order to an old man to carry his rice .

I let the guy get whatever was causing him obvious stress time to chill / have a glass or 2 and go for a swim- but i could not understand him at all- why was he so stressed and why would he react so badly  to a civilian being slightly bossed by a general?

2 days later i found out that the general was a 14 year old gun happy executioner who pointed hi rife at the aid worker , the old man was indeed frail , the rice was a big sack and the journey was a 2 days walk across a scortching desert.

I vowed not to judge without trying to understand first- if possible.

You seem to have had experience of life lmfao. You are right, things are rarely as black and white as people think.

To judge History one must use the values of the time, or we would not get it.

Later values keep changing, so it is not a lot of use using them.

We could learn from History if we used it properly but we never do.

I will try to learn something of the life of M, and try to judge using the values of the time.

ALL CLAIMS OF JESUS DERIVE FROM HEARSAY ACCOUNTS

No one has the slightest physical evidence to support a historical Jesus; no artifacts, dwelling, works of carpentry, or self-written manuscripts. All claims about Jesus derive from writings of other people. There occurs no contemporary Roman record that shows Pontius Pilate executing a man named Jesus. Devastating to historians, there occurs not a single contemporary writing that mentions Jesus. All documents about Jesus came well after the life of the alleged Jesus from either: unknown authors, people who had never met an earthly Jesus, or from fraudulent, mythical or allegorical writings. Although one can argue that many of these writings come from fraud or interpolations, I will use the information and dates to show that even if these sources did not come from interpolations, they could still not serve as reliable evidence for a historical Jesus, simply because all sources about Jesus derive from hearsay accounts.

Hearsay means information derived from other people rather than on a witness' own knowledge.

Courts of law do not generally allow hearsay as testimony, and nor does honest modern scholarship. Hearsay does not provide good evidence, and therefore, we should dismiss it.

Catholic - atheist up to age 25. believer for 24 years.

born Catholic, hated Catholicism, going to churches. Rituals and dead words repeated every Sunday like a monk's chant. I went to a service about ten years ago and it was the same service word for word from 1975? broken by a token sermon. No Scripture being explored? Like a song being sung without understanding the meaning of the words. (the bible makes all of us priests, all of us the church. no permissions needed when reaching out to God)
The Jewish people are God's chosen people. That's why they are hated. This is Satan's kingdom. The fallen world that Adam bequeathed to Satan.
the OLD TESTAMENT is about LAW and the Jewish people. God gave them laws and blood sacrifice to keep them clean. But Law cannot do anything but condemn and animal sacrifice cannot keep you clean for long. So God gave us GRACE(the new testament), first to the gentiles, then the Jews.(For I would not, brethren, that ye should be ignorant of this mystery, lest ye should be wise in your own conceits; that blindness in part is happened to Israel, until the fullness of the Gentiles be come in).
Jesus will come back and claim the gentiles first then Israel will follow. Israel will turn to Christ, they are currently blinded to him. intentionally so.
Satan has attacked Christ's bloodline throughout the old testament and even after his death, in revenge. Jews have been chased from 70 AD up until present day. But the gentiles brought them back to the holy land with the Balfour declaration in 1918, then 7x7 years later in 1967 they took back Jerusalem.(7x7=the jubilee 49 years)it's now two days till the next jubilee. the Shmita, the sabbath year is a cycle of seven years. If Christ was born in the year 6 BC? then if you cycle through every seven years of history you might see some interesting dates. 70 AD Rome destroys Jerusalem and chases the Jews from the holy land. year 637(behold the abomination and desolation. Omar conquers Jerusalem after Muhammad is dead by ten years. the PATRIACH SOPHRONIUS REMEMBERS THE WORDS OF CHRIST.
since then the Muslims have built upon the temple site. Earthquakes has raised their structures to the ground many times.(https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Al-Aqsa_Mosque)
1918 matches up on the seven year cycle. 1967 too. 1973 yom kippur. 1980 us courts.1987 stock markets.1994 oslo accord.2001/2 twintowers/war.2008/9 markets crash.2016?famine?
every jubilee the jews are judged for a blessing or curse from God.

God makes promises that are kept. he can wait on his time scale, it's not a man's time scale. His Kingdom comes, his will be done.

Nobody is God's chosen people.

After the Roman Diaspora, the Jews tried to maintain their religion and their bloodline wherever they settled.

This always mad them outsiders and they suffered for it. They would not integrate into the societies they settled in.

The whole of the old testement bible is a love poem between God and His Chosen people. Pick it up and read it. The land was given to Abraham(who the Muslim's recognize as their ancestor too). Abrahamic Covenant. Abraham walked through animal sacrifices in a figure eight (which is now called a moebius strip) (Some 3,500 years ago the Canaanites inhabited the land that God promised to give to the offspring of Abraham, Isaac and Jacob. God promised that He would give the land of Israel to the Jewish people as an eternal possession. The promise was unconditional. God confirmed it at least 55 times with an oath and stated at least 12 times that the covenant was everlasting (see Bible for references).

I looked at Wikipedia for my information on Jewish History rather than the Old Testament, it is a little shorter.

It was the Roman Emperor Hadrian who drove the Jews out of Judea in 123 AD rather than Satan.

Some Jews still remained in Judea and in other places in the Middle East. The Romans never liked the Jews much.

The Jews are as much a faith as a people. With conversions in and out, marriage in and out, one wonders whether

modern Jews have a great deal of DNA connection to those that were driven out.

The were plenty of Jewish diasporas before the Roman ones, the Assyrians, the Babylonians they were in Egypt for a while.

you aren't getting it at all. It's a quite mental book. I'd describe it as a multi dimensional book. Some of it is literal. some of it metaphorical. Some of it is poetry. some of it is brutal.
The old testement is ALL ABOUT JESUS. not just the new testement. The word was with god and was god.
there's a passage when jesus meets two apostles on the road after his death and they don't recognize him at first.(maybe because he's been brutalized, battered by the romans prior to his death, he might still be that way). (luke 24:13)
HE said to them - How foolish you are, and how slow of heart to believe all the prophets have spoken. Did not the massiah(christ)have to suffer these things and then enter his glory.AND BEGINNING WITH MOSES and ALL THE PROPHETS, He explained to them what was said in all the scriptures concerning himself.
Jesus is part of God, yet seperate. Some people see the trinity as a mystery. But water can be ice or water and steam. All different qualities of the same substance. All things were made through him. Jesus is preternatural. He's with God at the beginning as well as now.
A lot of mentions in the bible of "the angel of the Lord" which some bible scholars see as a Jesus figure. When God enters our world it's too much for the senses. The jews when they reached the mountain ran from him and they made told Moses that they didn't want that experience again. Who could stand before the lord and live. So he became a man. flesh. for our sake.
the burning bush is another weird manifestation that could also be explored?
Lastly the holy spirit. right now he's the crucial part of god keeping society afloat. the bible says when he withdraws from the word. Men will turn on their brothers and they will kill each other.
All the prophets mention the coming messiah, Isaiah annd Daniel go into great detail about him. THE JEWS DID NOT RECOGNIZE HIM and because of this they have been blinded until the Fullness of the gentiles is completed.

Jesus goes into a synagogue (not the start of a joke?)

he deliberately only read the portion which was fulfilled by his first coming. He stopped mid sentence, told them it was fulfilled that day - the synagogue exploded and they called him blasphemer and took him to the edge of a cliff to stone him.

Luke 4:17-21  New International Version (NIV)

17 and the scroll of the prophet Isaiah was handed to him. Unrolling it, he found the place where it is written:

18
“The Spirit of the Lord is on me,
because he has anointed me
to proclaim good news to the poor.
He has sent me to proclaim freedom for the prisoners
and recovery of sight for the blind,
  to set the oppressed free,
19
to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.”[a]

20 Then he rolled up the scroll, gave it back to the attendant and sat down. The eyes of everyone in the synagogue were fastened on him. 21 He began by saying to them, “Today this scripture is fulfilled in your hearing.”

--------------

Isaiah 61King James Version (KJV)

61 The Spirit of the Lord God is upon me; because the Lord hath anointed me to preach good tidings unto the meek; he hath sent me to bind up the brokenhearted, to proclaim liberty to the captives, and the opening of the prison to them that are bound;

2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn;

still to come - and the day of vengeance of our God; to comfort all that mourn; etc.

For 650 years Jesus and his followers told their story. Then another story appeared to discredit them? who profits from that?

Yeah - I have carbon dated books to the first century of eye witnesses writing down what they saw regarding Jesus. The Adversary of Satan, who's the ruling spirit of this world. Jesus won the victory and has snatched all who believe in Him, the Father and the holy spirit. By his holy sacrifice his blood covers all believers making it possible to go in front of god blameless. Jesus led a blameless life fulfilling the prophecies of the old testament. (if you are a betting man the odds against that are so big there isn't enough atoms in this universe to one.)
The sore loser Satan knows he lost. So 600 years later he makes up lies and tells these distortions to a violent tribal leader who killed many. He also uses this strategy across the board creating other false witness religions in 1830 Mormonism, 1870 Jehovah witnesses.

who's testimony is more trust worthy the man who comes to you first or the man who comes to you last.

If i have a valuable book I hide it in a library. That's what Satan is doing. Make your choice the original texts or the copies.

Parts of the bible are 3,500 years old. pre dates Buddist teachings.

Ave Maria became a favourite after seeing ALIVE. Loved music as a kid, but I am wary of it now. Saw Robbie Williams sign a 80 million pound contract with EMI on the news(2002), a pentagram in the background wall. Not a poster? painted on the wall. He really delivered the goods since. Makes you wonder what a 'record deal' is?

Music is a manipulative force. Tribes men used it in ceremonies to evoke a spiritual response. The news even plays sad music over news reports now. Movies and soundtracks are all geared to wind you up into a frenzy of emotion to get you to hate or love the characters in the movies. IT IS NOT A PASSIVE MEDIUM.

Saying all that I do have music favourites. I don't have albums but collect singles. I don't follow singers/bands- prefer their best output. I like ennio morricone, he uses voices as instruments, (https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=kOy6M_X2MO8)(https://www.youtube.com/watch?... ).

not into religions. the bible is about truth. That opens it to criticism because murder is in it's pages. Sins of all descriptions are on every page. If there is purpose/comfort in it. It's in God's plan to fix his relationship between Man and Himself. Disposing of the curse of death brought about by Satan.
Everyone is an immortal creation. Why didn't god destroy Satan? after all the evil done. Maybe when you have a soul you cannot be destroyed? I'm not sure about this, but there are numerous references to being bound, imprisoned and thrown into a lake of fire for the angels. Never Destruction. Exile to other planes seems to be the only recourse.
Spend your eternity with God or some place else.

Center of Monotheism

Jerusalem is known as the land of many prophets, peace be upon them all. Muslims revere all of the "Biblical" prophets, such as Abraham, Moses, David, Solomon, and Jesus - peace be upon them all. They all taught the Oneness of God.
First Qiblah for Muslims

Jerusalem was the first Qiblah for Muslims - the place toward which Muslims turn in prayer. It was many years into the Islamic mission (16 months after the Hijrah), that Muhammad (peace be upon him) was instructed to change the Qibla from Jerusalem to Mecca (Qur'an 2:142-144)

Why would i read the sequel? I have the original.

Abrahamic covenant gives the land to Abraham's ancestors for eternity. If you respect the prophets so much, stop tinkering with the original words. Stop trying to oust Israel.

I could lift a copy of the old testament, change details and places to suit my own ends. To justify my actions. It might retain some of the holiness of the original book but it is not the original book. It's false.

669 mentions in the bible - it's revered because they are God's people. Live with it. Get over it. He has favoured the jews. But everyone else is invited too, thru jesus.

your OP- read it- read what you wrote - if you'r just trying to get a reaction- well fine - but try to be a little more entertaining: the Q'ran mentions jeruslem many times; it teaches that Allah gave the land to the jews and will return it to them at the end of days; the Q'ran IS mostly the shared books of the Christian  Bible - I do not know enough to comment on whether Judaism uses the same source - tho I think the Torah is based on the scrolls of Abraham - but I digress...

you ask

'how many times does the word Jerusalem appear in the q'ran etc'

you seem to think its 'zero'

Why have you written that? I don't think you know anything about the middle east history - stop posting so much and do some reading!

that's certainly an answer

the more recent research suggests it was not

however- why do you write that Jeru  Salaam  is not written in the Q'ran?- have a deco at this from the more mainstream / representative moderate Muslim clerics

JERUSALEM IN THE QUR'AN

The most common argument against Muslim acknowledgment of Israeli sovereignty over Jerusalem is that, since al-Quds [Jerusalem] (4) is a Holy Place for Muslims, Muslims cannot accept that it is ruled by non-Muslims, because such acceptance amounts to a betrayal of Islam.

Before expressing our point of view on this question, we must reflect upon the reason for which Jerusalem and Masjid al-Aqsa [the Al Aksa mosque] hold such a sacred position in Islamic faith.

As is well known, the inclusion of Jerusalem among Islamic holy places derives from al-Mi'raj, the Ascension of the Prophet Muhammed to heaven. The Ascension began at the Rock, usually identified by Muslim scholars as the Foundation Stone of the Jewish Temple in Jerusalem referred to in Jewish sources.

Recalling this link requires us to admit that there is no connection between al-Miraj [the Ascension] and Muslim sovereign rights over Jerusalem since, in the time that al-Miraj took place, the City was not under Islamic, but under Byzantine administration. Moreover, the Qur'an expressly recognizes that Jerusalem plays for Jews the same role that Mecca does for Muslims.

tried not to delay. Josephus was a jew that became a roman citizen. He mentions Jesus. He wrote extensively about the romans and their expulsion of tthe jews from the holy land.

If you were born in the year 600AD. you could read the bible in entirety. There was no bogus texts. You could read about all the prophets then. The JEWS laughed at the pagan tribes without a god. They had no imagination so just co-opted the jewish books and made it their own. For 600 years there were no muslims. Abraham was dead 2000 years before the Arabs tuned in.

- Truly, god loves those who fight

- Fight and slay the pagans wherever you find them,
and seize them, beleaguer them, and lie in wait for
  them in every stratagem.

- Chop off their hands and chop off their fingertips

- When you meet the unbelievers, chop off their heads

- Fight and slay those who don't convert wherever you find them

- Believers, take neither Jew nor Christians for your friends

- Those who follow Muhammad are ruthless to unbelievers

- Those who reject Islam are "the vilest of creatures" and thus deserve no mercy

- Fight them until Islam reigns supreme (throughout the world)

There are more than 100 verses in the Qur'an (Koran) advocating the use of violence to spread Islam.  There are exactly 123 verses in the Qur'an about killing and fighting.

The word "Islam" has been falsely proclaimed by Muslims to mean peace. The word Islam, actually means "submission" to the Muslim god of intolerance and hatred. It comes from the root Arabic word "taslim". In Arabic, the word for peace is only "solh".

Do not work for food that spoils, but for food that endures to eternal life, which the Son of Man will give you. On him God the Father has placed HIS SEAL OF APPROVAL." John 6:27

This is reiterated elsewhere by the Lord:

"I have testimony weightier than that of John. For the very work that the Father has given me to finish, and which I am doing, testifies that the Father has sent me. And the Father who sent me has himself testified concerning me. You have never heard his voice nor seen his form, nor does his word dwell in you, for you do not believe the one he sent." John 5:36-38

it's an explanation that excuses their complete distain for the place. In the past.

I didn't mention My wife because she's so precious to me. (complete bull).

What other lands were not mentioned that are holy to the Muslims? Can i have a list upfront. In case I step on yer fat toes.

it is a film about a boy called Harry Potter jr. He goes to a new apartment and he encounters a magical world of evil and good magical beings.

When growing up I saw many BBC productions of children's books.
children of the stones, rentaghost, sky, ace of wands, tomorrow people, the sand fairy, The Witches and The Grinnygog, the phoenix and the carpet, the lion the witch and the wardrobe. Even Diana Rigg playing a witch school teacher in the worst witch 1986.

where did the writer of Harry Potter series get all those magical ideas?
she at least writes her own material. First book 1997.
