Is that strictly speaking responsible though, kinsem?
|
|
By:
kincsem, sorry.
Are you kinky? No wonder you never refuse a drink ![]() |

By:
Kincsem was a brilliant Hungarian race mare that went unbeaten in 54 races. Not a lot of people know that.

whats that very nice very old hotel in perth I stayed in about 5 yrs ago trills?

Wanna brew your own but not sure where to start?
6L water (bottled or tap) 250g Fresh grated ginger 1tsp Dried ground ginger 1tsp Cream of tartar 2 Oranges 500g Sugar 2tsp Yeast nutrient 1 sachet champagne yeast Boil for 60 minutes, strain and then cool in the sink. Pour the liquid into a 5L water container (Iceland for £1), put the yeast in then leave the tap slightly open on the 5L container(important that it's cool or you'll kill it and important that you let the CO2 escape or you'll have a bomb.) Leave it for 3 weeks, then pour into sterilised bottles, avoiding the sediment at the bottom of your 5L container with 1/2 teaspoon of sugar in each. Keep in the warm for 2 weeks then put in the fridge for another 2 weeks. Cream of tartare gives body to the drink but isn't essential. Same goes for the yeast nutrient. You can use bread yeast if you can't get the hold of champagne yeast (I'm using a sparkling wine yeast in mine) You will end up with 10 pints of 6.5% ginger beer (rocket fuel) Thank me in 7 weeks time as you get plastered ![]() |

I'll take you up on that, Ovalman. Ta for the tip

I made it yesterday, think I forgot the powdered ginger and definitely forgot the yeast nutrient (even though I've both) but it's bubbling away in nicely a demijohn.
The ginger cost about £1, sugar 60p, yeast was £1.15. Cost is in pennies and tastes marvelous. You can also make similar with red or white grape juice, apple juice, pomegranite ect. You can even make beer out of stinging nettles (haven't tried that one yet). |
