Terrible decision. They will keep mixing it up with RRS Richard Attenborough.

People on the internet will now start referring to the nature presenter as Sir David McBoatFace

RRS Usain Boat was my favourite suggestion.

Also liked RRS I Like Big Boats & I Cannot Lie, although I can see why that was a bit impractical.

Has Richard Attenborough got a boat named after him --
He was far better than leftie David .

Silly to call the sub "Boaty". "Subby McSubface" would be much more appropriate!

I never had and never would call anyone a "sir", his mother didn't name him sir so he will always be David, people who accept these knighthoods always go down in my estimation straight after. They're not special people and shouldn't elevate themselves above society as if they are, David Attenborough has made many a good  documentary but so have many wildlife presenters, and they all have one thing in common, they are lucky to have been out on TV to make such an easy living because I've met animal lovers with far more personality than them all combined....down at the zoo!, and they have had all of their trips to far flung places paid for, accommodation, food, expenses etc, Attenborough was even in the news studio having his say about BBC cuts because he was scared he wouldn't be able to do as many programs so he waffled about how important it was that mankind knew where it came from, I don't think he's discovered the internet.

Stroppy rant overGrin

Ships carry boats. So the sub carried on board the ship has every right to be called Boaty.

The ship, on the other hand, should have been named Shippy McShipface.

Now what would be a good name for that smug git Attenborough...?

About 90% of the population shouldn't be allowed to vote on anything.

But after listening to some peep on the news on who they voted for and why I felt like crying.
